John 7:37-39. Ps Louis Baron concludes our series looking at Jesus' speech of invitation. Our Saviour tells us that as His followers, we should expect the flow of the Holy Spirit in our lives. This wonderful promise, however, will only ring true when we come to Jesus - aware of our desperate thirst for God and responding in complete worship of Him.

Ps Hilary Williams talks about the foothold of pursuits. Ambition isn't always wrong - it is often a good thing to pursue, for instance, acceptance, love, satisfaction and so forth. However, the enemy can quickly turn this into an idolatrous addiction. The challenge for us is to break free from the slavery that greed and discontent brings, and rather, to root our pursuits in the gospel. This will help us to ensure that our pursuits are in Christ and His purpose for our lives.

Phil 2:1-11. Ps Hilary Williams considers relationships with a power imbalance. Humanly speaking, power so often leads to oppression and abuse - and we are not immune from this corruption. When we find ourselves in a position of authority, God's heart for us is to observe and emulate Christ - whose leadership is marked by service and sacrifice. This is the key to keeping selfish ambitions in check.

John 8:31-47. Ps Hilary Williams talks about how our past can cast a long shadow over our present reality. While many of us are captive to our own failures, some are held by the words or actions of generations past. In either case, Jesus wants us to be assured that His blood can free us from whatever our past may have been.

Psalm 32. Louis Baron examines this song from King David, and its lessons on repentance. This is not meant to be, as it were, an "outer suburb" of our Christian walk - rather, it is the "city centre". While often see repentance as simply trying harder to be a better person, we must realise that this is a mere by-product of us exchanging various forms of idolatry, for God Himself.
