Bill Ranshaw is a great friend of the show, Emmy award winning documentary filmmaker and overall awesome human. Bill has not been on in a while, so you know, we've got some serious catching up to do. Bill Ranshaw is the host of the White Collar Awakening podcast and men's mental health advocate. Bill first appeared on the MHU podcast on Episode 17 where he discussed his recovery from porn addiction, what porn does to the dopamine and other neurotransmitter pathways in the brain and how porn negatively impacted his life and most importantly relationships. Bill poured his heart out in Episode 17, and we were moved by his vulnerability discussing such a touchy subject. Bill's second appearance came some time later on Episode 22, where he discusses the importance of mental health, human connection, accountability, and vulnerability. We could talk to the guy all day, Bill unpacks so much wisdom in an easily digestable form. So here we are, episode 67 of a 2 part podcast. Bill is discussing how psychadelics impacted him in addiction recovery. We know there is a lot of skepticism and controversy in this space, but there is also a lot of research being done. So we have to say nothing on this podcast is medical advice, but we would not be good scientists, pharmacists, and advocates if we did not toe dip in some controversial topics once in a while. Studies are being performed on psychadelic mushrooms in a few states like Colorado (where Bill lives which gives him legal access to psychadelic mushrooms) and Oregon to treat PTSD, addiction and other mental health issues, these treatments are done safely and under the supervision of professionals. In part 1 of this podcast, Bill reintroduces himself to our audience, discusses how porn impacted him, updates us on his recovery, and introduces psychadelics to our audience. We have not discussed a topic like psychadelics on the podcast before, so this was definitely a learning experience for us. We hope you enjoy this episode, Bill drops the knowledge, and we just pass him the ball. Find us: www.menshealthunscripted.com
