The Beers With Bands Podcast started out focusing on the Twin Cities/Minneapolis scene but has since branched out to covering bands nationally and internationally. Michael’s show is very similar to mine in concept, and we both share a love of beer, so it was an extremely fun conversation. Episode 347 features MIGGS from Pasadena, Maryland, originally from Austin, Texas. I first heard him perform at the Labor Day Raft-Up hosted by Rumor Reel, and we later sat down in person at one of my favorite Annapolis bars, Dark Horse Tavern. We talked about his music and writing process, his entertainment strategy, and his backstory of moving from Texas to Maryland. MIGGSs (Miguel Rangel) is also an IT professional and a military Veteran. The episode features his song Party Ride—and if you like it, you can stream it on any major platform. Episode 346 features Horse Island, an indie rock band from Charlotte, NC. They’re playing a show this weekend at Starlight on 22nd in Charlotte with Benton and The Bleeps. The Hollow Truths were originally on the bill but unfortunately won’t be able to make it. In the interview I spoke with Christian Hall and Sean Murphy. I wanted to have the guys on to support the show and share their backstory. While Horse Island is a new project for them, they’ve been part of the scene for a while and have developed their sound through playing in previous bands. Shea is an absolute blast to work with and is based in Easton, MD. In the interview, we dive into his recording process, his role as an engineer and producer, and how he keeps his business thriving in the modern music industry. We ended up doing two songs with him; one just dropped yesterday, called “Zero Sum.” We also recorded a fun parody titled "Naptown," inspired by Annapolis, Maryland. Episode 343 features LJR and Brendan Lane, myself, and Felix Nieto. We all got together at Felix Studio (The Hangar Studio) to talk about our upcoming show this Saturday on October 25th at the Galactic Panther in Alexandria, VA. The bill also features You Fool! from Washington, DC. I’ve been trying to put together a show in Alexandria for many years, so it’s exciting to finally find one. It will be on King St which is the downtown area with all the cool bars and restaurants. In the conversation, we talked about Luke and Brendan's approach to being frontmen, and how they individually go about trying to captivate an audience. I last played with Brendan in Austin at SXSW, so it was fun to catch up. Luke will be doing a solo set, so he's been working hard on putting that together. He's also been working hard on TikTok, and trying to get his story across to an audience, so he had a lot to say on that subject.
