It’s the American Dream: “Available” to all, accessible by some, denied to many, indifferent to the consequences — just the way the good lord intended it to be! The productive forces have given us so much stuff, but the endless extraction, manufacture and commodification of planetary and human resources is leading us down a path we won’t be able to recover from. Just how close are we to the breaking point? And what happens next if we don’t rethink how we roll?
Special thanks to guests Andrew Constantino, Kshama Sawant, and Vijay Prashad.
From Maffick Podcasts, Party of One. Written, hosted, and produced by Amanda Getty and Gregory Haddock. Theme song by Jonathan Hurley. Production assistance by Eilís O’Neill and Ryan Wentz.

War. What is it good for? Doesn’t really matter – because the wheels that keep the gears of the military industrial complex turning are spinning as furiously as ever. From comparing missile size to primal displays of brute force, the US has a big one, and we want (nay need) everyone to know it. Where’s the anti-war movement of our parents’ generation today? And why don’t our “progressive” members of Congress stand up to the hawks?
Endless war is just too profitable for shareholders to walk away, no matter the consequences, no matter the side of the aisle. And it goes beyond body count. It’s changed who we are as humans.

What’s the real difference between dissent and disloyalty? Why is “subversion” so subjective? And why does advocating for workers rights, affordable housing and racial equity make you a monster? We’re talking political persecution the American way, with a deep dive into one of our darkest chapters as a nation: The House Un-American Activities Committee or HUAC left a body count multiple generations long, all to protect an exclusive money scheme just starting to show how lucrative it could be. Find out why the FBI’s the FBI no matter who’s running shit in Washington.

Try to imagine a world where corporations don't run Washington. We can't either.
Most Americans think money plays too big a role in US politics. So where's the bipartisan support for legislating a new path forward? And if the Dems and the GOP aren't going to fix this, how can we? When will cash take a back seat to real human voters? We’re dumpster diving deep into the pockets of one of the richest congresses in US history and finding out just how far both parties will go to ensure that sweet green speaks louder than you.

What would happen if we stopped buying the line that asking for what we want is somehow bad? Republicans or Democrats not your thing? Then you’re a disruptive asshole spoiling it for everybody else. Is it an accident that things are like this? You know better than that. Listen to find out who’s really spoiled by this system, and why how we vote really does make a difference, even if it’s not how you might think.

Political debate -- remember when that was a thing? Characterized by intelligent, sophisticated argument, logic, and reasoning? Welp, not anymore. Especially if we’re talking about the US presidential debates. The Super Bowl of the US election cycle has become a train wreck: fewer moral maxims, more Mad Max-ims. What if we told you that wasn’t an accident?
