Day 42, and the mission didn’t look like horses, fences, or paddocks today. 

It looked like a 2-hour neuro assessment for a concussion I thought I’d mostly recovered from.

The truth? I haven’t.
But I’m still here, building, leading, and making things happen.

In today’s episode, I unpack how to keep showing up even when your body says stop, and how real discipline is built not when it’s easy, but when it’s inconvenient.

Day 41 - A full reset is underway.

Not just mindset but structure, priorities, and business direction.

Today started with structure:

Farrier work done, youngsters handled, horses worked despite frozen ground.

The 4-week mindset reset continues to bring real clarity: no social media after 7PM, no energy leaks, better execution.

But the real shift is happening in the evenings:

Focused time on what matters most, refining plans, reassessing direction, and building a routine that supports where things are heading next.

This isn’t about staying busy. It’s about getting intentional.

Day - 40 was 5AM start. 

On the road treating horses. Progress with clients, powerful results from a driven team.
Two more horses worked before dark. A full day!

But the biggest shift?

Lunch by the lake.

In that stillness, I realised how much I’ve changed.

This podcast has become a mirror. And 40 days in, I’m not the same person.
Growth doesn’t always come with noise. Sometimes, it whispers.

Day 39 ~ another stunning, cold winter day.

•  Horses worked
•   Farm jobs done
•  And one special goodbye to the mare that left for the South Island.

Her story matters.

She arrived as a stud mare who was unsound due to an old injury, with an owner unsure what to do. Unfortunately, she wasn't a viable breeding prospect either. 
I decided to take her on as my own, to see if I could rehabilitate her.

Fast forward to last week, she’s sound, ready for shoes, about to start ridden work.
Then, the owner calls out of the blue. She’s just lost her other horse and asks if this mare could come home as a companion.

And here’s the truth:
Yes, I’d put in months of time, care, and effort.
But it was clear, the right thing was to send her back.

This work isn’t about possession.
It’s about doing right by the horses, even when no one’s watching.

Day 38 — and while it was a productive, satisfying day on the farm, something hit deeper.

✔ Horses worked
 ✔ Paddocks harrowed
 ✔ Transport prep sorted
 ✔ Youngsters handled

But online, I came across something that broke my heart:
Seeing an online post about a horse that had degloved its hoof, no vet called, and people were going against veterinary advice, offering home remedies instead of urgent care.

It broke my heart.
 But more importantly, it fuelled my fire.

I’m not interested in just talking about the problem.
I’m driven to be part of the solution.
To raise awareness, improve education, and ensure better care is within reach.

That’s the mission I’m stepping into.

Day 37 - and it started rough:
Slept through the alarm, into a brutal –4°C frost, horses worked, paddocks shifted, surprise transporter rescheduled (Monday, not Thursday), fitness sessions  - a full day.

But here’s the bigger story:
I’ve been feeling the drain, physically and mentally.

So today, I started implementing the 4-week mindset reset strategy:
 ✔ 6–7 hours of real sleep
 ✔ No social media after 7PM
 ✔ Most importantly — no energy leaks

The day ended with something that recharged me more than I realised: a good night at a friend’s house.
Good food, good conversation, no work.

Today reminded me:
Pushing hard builds you, but boundaries protect you.

Day 36 - Honestly, it wasn’t the most exciting or inspiring day.

Started with a JT Foxx AI webinar, then ran into town for fencing supplies after a supplier communication issue earlier this week, and spent the afternoon treating horses.

The big takeaway?
Sometimes it’s not about the massive breakthroughs or emotional stories.
Sometimes it’s about keeping the systems running, identifying the gaps, and moving forward, even when it’s not glamorous.

Today was one of those days.
Progress, not perfection.

Day 35 was full of milestones today!

✔ Halfway point, managing The Ridges solo alongside 2 businesses
 ✔ 1,000 podcast downloads
 ✔ 100 days alcohol-free

Worked horses this morning, put out extra feed ahead of a snow warning, then treated horses in the afternoon.

Here’s what hit me:
I’ve hit some big goals, but I haven’t lined up the next ones yet.
And without a next target, momentum can slip.

Today reminded me:
Discipline isn’t just showing up for what’s in front of you.
It’s choosing how you carry it and where you aim it next.

Day 34 - Today was a reminder of why this work matters.

• Morning on the road, following up rehab cases, incredibly rewarding to see the change in these horses
• Revisited the mare with the previously poor-fitting saddle, huge improvement in her back and posture in a short period of time
• Afternoon spent with a long-term client, combining groundwork lessons and treatment, love the trust and progress that comes from those long-term relationships
• Finished the day with a follow-up on a DSPO (kissing spine) rehab case, again, heading in the right direction

Very positive day, very rewarding, and the kind of results that remind me exactly why I do what I do.

If only all days were like this one!
