The Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP), the leading provider of statistics on political violence, has identified 285 distinct armed conflicts since 1946. That comes to an average of 3.8 wars a year.

3. Famines A total of 45 million people are on the brink of famine across 43 countries and the slightest shock will push them over the edge, the World Food Programme (WFP).

The Great Chinese Famine 1959-61 20-50 million died. Chinese Famine Of 1907 25 million died. Chalisa And South India Famines 1782-84 11 million died. Bengali Famine Of 1770 10 million died. Soviet Famine (Holodomor) 1932-33 3.5-7.5 million died. Russian Famine 1921 5 million died. North Korean Famine 1994-98 3 million died. Persian Famine 1917-19 2 million died.

4. Earthquakes The National Earthquake Information Center now locates about 20,000 earthquakes around the globe each year, or approximately 55 per day.

Killing and persecution of Christians The Center for the Study of Global Christianity (CSGC) says 900,000 Christians have been ‘martyred’ in the last decade, equating to 90,000 a year and one every six minutes. Around the world, 360 million Christians face persecution just for following Jesus in 2022. -Open door ministries.

Genesis 12:1-4 NIV

5 ways to get in and stay in the greatest that God has for us. 

1. Obey: it was Abram’s obedience that allowed him to experience God’s greatest. So Abram went. 

1 Samuel 15:21-23 NLT

Satan’s counter for obedience is rebellion and stubbornness. 

2. Generosity: God knew that Abram would be a good steward and be a blessing. When we give we keep away the spirit of greed and selfishness. 

3. Fasting: fasting breaks the spirit of lust over our lives. 

1 John 2:16 NIV

4. Praying: keeps the spirit of pride away. When we pray it’s saying to God, I need your help. I am relying on you. I am weak and I need your strength. 

Proverbs 16:18 NIV

5. Repentance: Keeps the spirit of condemnation and shame away. Satan is constantly trying to get us to harden our hearts to the things of God. That we would harden our hearts to God’s love, His wisdom and His sacrifice.

Biblical repentance is not about your emotions, your sin, your efforts, or your resolve. It’s about your surrender.
