Today I want to talk to you about the cave of distress.
Both Elijah and David found themselves here, and then the Lord brought
them out. These stories in the Word reveal to us God's pattern for
release, freedom from the wearing of distress. 1 Kings 19:8-9 (NKJV), So
he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food
forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God. And
there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and
behold, the word of the LORD [came] to him, and He said to him, "What
are you doing here, Elijah?" Elijah is frustrated, weary, discouraged,
things didn't work the way he imagined. He's alone, falsely accused,
treated unfairly. Just before this trip he asked the Lord to take his
life. Done. Distressed. Lowest place of his life. We all hit low times.
Paul talked about afflicted even unto death, Daniel is chucked in with
lions for praying. The Bible is full of stories of being treated
unfairly, ostracized, left alone and for dead, even our Jesus. And in
each situation, as the Lord called them out, then lifted them up, they
were elevated, launched to new heights, like a tightly wound spring they
were released by the Lord and found new success, going higher than they
imagined. This is what is in store for you today...
