No one begins seeking the face of the Lord without the Lord first calling unto them. The Lord calls us by bringing us to the awareness of the bankruptcy of our wisdom or way of life. It is the deep awareness of the fact that no good thing dwells in us, that spurs us to run to the Lord for refuge. This awareness is supposed to mark the beginning of everyone’s spiritual journey. However, many people do not begin the spiritual journey, having been exposed to some form of religion without this spiritual awakening in place.

Thus, the purer our desire, the purer we receive the truth of God’s Word.

In the message, “Thy Face Lord Will I Seek: The Relationship Between the Lord and Man”, Pastor Andrews Krampah discusses what drives a person to seek for a deeper meaning of the scriptures. He establishes that, the one who is carnal in his/her desire will derive satisfaction in the literal meaning of the scriptures, because it places no demand on their will and wisdom.

Many think they would be better off in their faith if they had encountered the Lord during His incarnation. As a result, they rate the material birth of God above His spiritual birth (the appearance of the Lord to the hearts of men). Jerusalem was known as the Holy city because of the presence of the temple, which represented the Word of God, in it. Since our worship is in our submission to the Word, Jerusalem was known as the place of worship. It was therefore the custom of the Jews to pray facing the temple within Jerusalem. Their facing the temple in prayer was indicative of their agreement to that which the temple represents. Thus, the peace and prosperity of Jerusalem was the basis of the prayer of every Jew. And this was what made their prayers effective.

The one who lives the spiritual life in the earth comes to an understanding of truth, which makes them able to see. Such is the one who is awake and is called to be a watchman, i.e., an intercessor.
