  • Ephesians“ overview of 3:1-9; The Secret of the Ages, part 29 (Overcoming sin and suffering).
    Sunday January 22, 2019

Phi 1:19 For I know that this shall turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Phi 1:20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I shall not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ shall even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
Phi 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

"By monstrously magnifying the characteristics attributed to his opponents and then reducing their characteristics to a few simple, lapidary slogans, that are repeated year in and year out, day after day, hatred will be intensified until it becomes a burning, vehement, contagious emotion that will convert multitudes into mobs animated by the desire for destructive vengeance, mobs fit for the gangster violence and lynch-law that always goes with violent revolution." [Voigt]
I find it fascinating that this method actually works. It is still working today, and it has even worked in some Christian churches and denominations about other churches or denominations that they consider as rivals or in antisemitism against Jews. Of whom is this insightfully said by Voigt?
    Rom 8:1...

The apex of our passage of study, Rom 8:1-11, is vs. 9:
Rom 8:9 However, you [the believers in Rome] are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
Here the great mark of the Christian is, that the Spirit of God dwells in him.
"YOU" (emphatic use of the pronoun) are not in the flesh but in the Spirit. You are forever in the Spirit. This is the defining quality of your life as a believer in Christ Jesus.
We are each responsible to know and understand the truth:
"A man may be a heretic in the truth; and if he believes things only because his...

In writing about the ideologies of Marxism, National Socialism (Nazi Germany), and Communism (Soviet Union), F.A. Voigt in Unto Caesar states: "The belief in the possibility of the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth is akin to the passion for "planning," and, like most other plans - only more so - the Kingdom will not "work." It cannot work because the Kingdom of Heaven and this world are in irreconcilable contradiction. The barrier between them is Death. That barrier cannot be passed by any man, not even by a Lenin or a Hitler. Secular religion does not, because it cannot, see its own essential contradiction, for if it did it would destroy itself."
We see in Rom 8:1-3 that Christ died in a manner that condemned in death our sin. Voigt, a Christian who understands this, says...
