  • Ephesians“ overview of 3:1-9; The Secret of the Ages, part 19 (Overcoming sin and suffering).
    Thursday, September 5, 2019
    Eph 3:1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles -
    Eph 3:2 if indeed you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace which was given to me for you;
    Eph 3:3 that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief.
    Eph 3:4 And by referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,
    Eph 3:5 which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit;
    Eph 3:6 to be specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the...

  • : Ephesians“ overview of 3:1-9; The Secret of the Ages, part 18 (Overcoming sin and suffering).
    Wednesday September 4, 2019
    The mystery, which is the Person of Christ, the indwelling of Christ, and the fellowship of the body of Christ has given all believers a standing in righteousness and a holy walk in life. As we explore this topic we come to see that our eyes come to focus on the ministry of the Holy Spirit within us.
    Gal 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
    Since every Christian has been made alive by the Holy Spirit it is only fitting that we conduct our lives by the same Spirit.
    It is a characteristic of all believers that they are made alive or born-again through the Holy Spirit's baptism and that they now live by the Spirit of God.
    This is the fulfillment of the mystery in us....

  • Ephesians“ overview of 3:1-9; The Secret of the Ages, part 17 (Overcoming sin and suffering).
    Sunday September 1, 2019
    We are looking at repentance, the turning from the old way of the old man to the new way, the Christ-life of the new man.
    We have noted many times that to repent one must surrender, submit, suffer, and die. The Son of God became a Man so that He could do what was impossible for us. Because He was able to submit, surrender, suffer, and die He was able to condemn sin to death and so kill what was in us that made it impossible for us to turn from sin and death.
    Rom 8:3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned [to death] sin in the flesh,
    Rom 8:4 in order that the requirement of the...

  • Earth Teaching Heaven - the watching angels and the parables of Luk 15, part 3.
    Sunday August 25, 2019
    Reconciliation is a source of great happiness in heaven. God succeeds in securing happiness in a person who has been estranged from Him.
    God is not only saving the man from death, He is giving him inner purity, moral character, divine principles, honesty, freedom, etc.; divine life within him. This produces great joy in heaven.
    1Th 4:1 Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that, as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do walk), that you may excel still more.
    1Th 4:2 For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
    1Th 4:3 For this is the will of God, your...

  • Earth Teaching Heaven - the watching angels and the parables of Luk 15, part 2.
    Saturday August 24, 2019
    Parable of the Lost sheep and the lost coin:
    Luk 15:10 "In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
    The context is that Jesus should prefer the society of notorious sinners. The Pharisees could not understand that a teacher of holy life could treat these abandoned characters with grace and preference. Our Lord's explanation is ample and thorough. It was of extreme importance that His demeanor towards sinners should be made perfectly intelligible, and that its reasonableness should be put beyond a doubt. He devotes, therefore, the three parables recorded in this chapter to this purpose.
    Drawn into Luke's historical record is a contrast between chapters 14...

  • Earth Teaching Heaven - the watching angels and the parables of Luk 15.
    Friday August 23, 2019
    The great secret of the destiny of the Gentile world was from all ages hidden, in order that now through the Church it might be made known.
    Eph 3:8 To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ,
    Eph 3:9 and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things;
    Eph 3:10 in order that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.
    The mystery of Christ is now made known to the church, and angels are being instructed in it by the watching the church.
    The...

    There are 21 amino acids that the body uses. When Darwin produced his theory on evolution, he did not know this. By the 1960's MIT scientists were the first to understand the mathematical significance of a protein in a cell being the right one for the job. Yet still, biology being behind what it is today, even they did not have the whole picture. In the early 2000's microbiologists started to understand the structures of proteins in a much more detailed way, and what they came to know was not only the chance of a protein turning out right, but how many ways a protein could go wrong, i.e. wrong sequences of amino acid. For a small protein of 150 amino acids the rarity of getting the right protein that would do what we know this little one to do is 1 in 10 to the 77th power, (a trillion is 12 zeros, this is 77 zeros) and that is just one protein out of millions...

  • Ephesians“ overview of 3:1-9; The Secret of the Ages, part 15 (Overcoming sin and suffering).
    Wednesday August 21, 2019
    Youthful folly abounds in all generations; the thought that unless we sin, we do not have freedom, and the sense that God would be more to us if He were less like Himself.
    To repent, one has to surrender, submit, suffer, and die.
    The Son of God became a Man who could then surrender, submit, suffer, and die in our place. His finished work enables every one of us to repent from sin and evil and to take hold of and pursue eternal life.
    To be seen and understood, the spiritual life must be lived.
    God tells us to go 'there' but leaves off the detailed explanation of what 'there'...

    1Ti 6:3 If anyone advocates a different doctrine, and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness,
    "godliness" - eusebeia = to be well-devoted. Truths and actions that are well-pleasing to God.
    1Ti 6:4 he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions,
    1Ti 6:5 and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.
    1Ti 6:6 But godliness actually is a means of great gain, when accompanied by...

    Sunday August 18, 2019
    To repent, one has to surrender, submit, suffer, and die.
    There's one problem - we can't do it perfectly and half measures are no good with God. There's another problem - there's nothing in God's nature that can do it at all.
    Nothing in God's nature corresponds to this process at all - surrender, submission, suffering, and death. God can only share what He has, and what we need He does not possess.
    But supposing God became a man - suppose our human nature which can suffer and die was amalgamated with God's nature in one person - then that person could help us. He could surrender His will, submit, suffer, and die because He was man and He could do it perfectly because He was...
