  • Ephesians; 1:3 “ the Trinity; the Father of all believers.
    Wednesday October 3, 2018
Ephesians; 1:3 - the Trinity; the Father of all believers.
We have seen the Father related to all creation, to Israel specifically, and to God the Son. Now we look at the Fatherhood of all believers.
God the Father of all believers.
All people long to be connected to another in devotion and love. However, man is flawed. Even the best believer is not capable of filling this need. Yet God has given to us His devotion and love in Christ. All believers can call God their Father.
Men are either perfectly lost or perfectly saved. When a man believes in Christ as his Savior, the Holy Spirit enters him...

  • Ephesians; 1:3 “ the Trinity; the Deity of the Son.
    Tuesday October 2, 2018
God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son. To take this to mean that Christ became a Son at the incarnation robs it of all meaning and force. The value and the greatness of the gift fully depends on the identity of the Son.
If God had given His son who was one of His creatures, His love would be less than that of a man who lays down his life for his fellows. If Christ had failed then God could have made another messiah, and another and another until someone got it right. Creating is easy for God.
The character of the gift shows us essentially that the Son was one with the Father from all eternity. They are One in the Godhead.
Jesus said, "Before Abraham, I am." He did not say, "Before Abraham, I was," which is what He would have said if He only wanted to state...

  • Ephesians; 1:3 “ the Trinity; the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, part 8 (Col 1:15-20).
    Sunday, September 30, 2018
Title: Ephesians; 1:3 - the Trinity; the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, part 8 (Col 1:15-20).
Only begotten (Greek, monogenes) = eternal generation or emanation. The Son was only begotten (unique One) from eternity and was given by the Father to mankind.
This is related to the son-ship of Christ as introduced in the Old Testament, but expounded in the New Testament where it is used of Christ five times (John 1:14, 18; 3:16, 18; I John 4:9), all in the writings of John.
The thought is clearly that Christ is the Begotten of God in the sense that no other is. He is without beginning, Creator of all things, the Originator of all things (the beginning), and also the first-born or preeminent One. The titles Father and Son relate to deity and also an intimate...

Eph 2:11-22 - the peace (eirene)
Eph 2:11 Therefore remember, that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called "Uncircumcision" by the so-called "Circumcision," which is performed in the flesh by human hands -
Eph 2:12 remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were...

  • Ephesians; 1:3 “ the Trinity; the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, part 6 (Col 1:15-20).
    Thursday, September 27, 2018
Following the blessedness of God and His blessings freely given to us in grace, Paul writes of thanksgiving to God. Not long ago we spoke of giving thanks to God first thing in the morning. I'd like you to ask yourself if you do that, and if not, why. You represent yourself before God, you alone determine your worship of Him. I only ask because I shepherd this flock.
Paul then writes of the saving grace of God. He summarizes our past, what we have been delivered from and how the grace of God saved us.
Eph 2:1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
Eph 2:2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of...

  • Ephesians; 1:3 “ the Trinity; the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, part 5 (Col 1:15-20)
    Wednesday September 26, 2018
Ephesians; 1:3 - the Trinity; the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, part 5 (Col 1:15-20).
Paul writes his salutation followed by his eulogia or blessedness of God who has blessed us. He follows that with thanksgiving and a prayer that the eyes of our hearts would be opened to the hope of His calling, the riches of our inheritance, and the surpassing power given to us. All of which was given to us when Christ accomplished His incredible work.
Paul then begins to write of the saving grace of God and how through that grace, though we were sons of disobedience, He saved us.
Eph 2:1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,...

The eucharistia begins in vs. 15.
Eph 1:15 For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you, and your love for all the saints,
    Eph 1:16 do not cease giving thanks [verb: eucharisteo] for you, while making mention of you in my prayers;
Eph 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.
Eph 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe [vv....

Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
Eph 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love

  • Ephesians; 1:3 “ the Trinity; the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, part 2 (Col 1:15-20).
    Friday September 21, 2018
Worthy of praise is God. He is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, and Whom we are in and He in us. He has elected, predestined, and adopted us before the foundation of the world to the praise of the glory of His grace. He has redeemed us, forgiven us, and He made known to us the mystery of His will for all time. We live in the dispensation of fulness.
What God desires for His children is not things but a life that is the life of the God/Man.
    Eph 1:10 In Him
Eph 1:11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,
Eph 1:12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ should be to the praise of His glory....
