God is the ultimate authority and it does not matter whether you like it or not nor does it matter if you like the program he has laid out for your life or not it would be wise to not rebel against God. Look at verse 9 we are told to be subject to the father of spirits and live. We only experience true life in Christ through the complete surrender of self. This morning I want us to see that we respond to God’s loving divine discipline by submission and there are three reasons for that.

God disciplines out of love because he knows that if we are left without discipline, then we will bring more mysery on ourselves than his gentle hand of discipline. Now we must soak this in that whenever we face trouble or affliction there is nothing punitive in it we must never say “God is punishing me for my sin” God does not do that and when we talk that way it is because we have become weak in our faith. God is disciplining you and not punish you, he is correcting you and straightening your path not smiting you by his wrath. There is no wrath in his heart for his children he does not hate us he loves us he is disciplining us because of that great love. Listen to this message to learn more of God’s discipline.
