Big Idea: God’s sovereign plan of provision can be unrecognized as it unfolds.

Ruth 2:1–23 shows us that God is at work in quiet, ordinary moments. Ruth labored in a field, unaware that the Lord was guiding every step toward provision, protection, and redemption.

God moves before we notice.
He provides before we understand.
He orders what feels unplanned.

What seems like chance is His design.
What appears small carries eternal weight.

“The man’s name with whom I worked today is Boaz.” (Ruth 2:19, ESV)

Let’s be a people who trust God’s hand, even when it is not yet clear.

Big Idea: God’s guidance is present even in seasons of painful loss.

Ruth 1:1–22 shows us that suffering is not the absence of God’s hand—it is often where His providence is quietly at work. Naomi walked through deep loss, yet God was already preparing restoration beyond what she could see.

God is not distant in your pain.
Loss does not cancel His purpose.
Even in bitterness, His plan is unfolding.

Faith does not deny the pain—it trusts God through it.

“But she said, ‘Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.’” (Ruth 1:20, ESV)

Let’s be a people who trust the Lord, even when the path is marked by loss.

Big Idea: Because Jesus is alive, I can be spiritually transformed.

1 Corinthians 15 shows us the gospel we stand in—Christ died, was buried, and rose again. He appeared, He proved it, and His grace changes everything.

The least became a servant.
The unworthy was given purpose.
Not by effort, but by grace.

The risen Christ still transforms.

Big Idea: Mature disciples embrace their personal responsibility for following spiritual instructions.

1 Corinthians 16 shows us that the Christian life is not passive—it is intentional. Every believer is called to live with order, commitment, and obedience to what God has clearly said.

Spiritual maturity takes responsibility.

It does not wait to be told—it walks in truth.

It does not drift—it stands firm.

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” (ESV)

Let’s be a church marked by faithful obedience and Christ-centered love.

Big Idea: Christ’s resurrection is the reason my faith and work are not in vain.

1 Corinthians 15 anchors everything in what is true.
Christ has been raised—so nothing done in Him is wasted.

Death is swallowed up in victory.
The grave has no final word.
Hope stands unshaken.

Because He lives, my faith is not empty.
Because He lives, my labor is not lost.
Because He lives, I stand firm, always abounding in His work.

Let us live like the resurrection is reality.

Grateful for another Sunday together at Heritage. Pastor Steve preached from First Epistle to the Corinthians 14:26–40, reminding us that following what God’s order permits for His church benefits everyone. We were challenged to see that when the church gathers according to God’s design, everything is done to build one another up and bring clarity and peace to the body.

Big idea - Following what God's order permits for His church benefits everyone.

Pastor Steve walked us through 1 Corinthians 14:1–25, where Paul teaches that the goal of spiritual gifts is not personal display, but the building up of God’s church.

The Corinthian believers were fascinated with impressive spiritual experiences, especially speaking in tongues. But Paul redirects their focus. Spiritual gifts are given so the church may be strengthened, encouraged, and built up in truth.

Clear, understandable proclamation of God’s Word is central to the life of the church. When God’s people speak in ways that strengthen others, the body grows and Christ is honored.

Big Idea:
Mature disciples are devoted to building up God’s church.

Paul calls believers to pursue love, seek gifts that edify others, and approach worship with maturity. The goal is not confusion or self-focus, but a gathering where the truth of God is clearly heard and lives are transformed.

When the church gathers around the Word, the result is conviction, worship, and the recognition that God is truly among His people.

Big Idea: Understanding the role of spiritual leaders helps us grow in our faith.

In Philippians 2, Paul points to faithful examples—men who were genuine in their care, focused on the mission, and committed to Christ above themselves. Spiritual leadership is not about status. It is about service. It is about placing the interests of Jesus Christ above our own.

Healthy leaders help the church grow. And as we follow Christ together, we mature in unity, humility, and obedience.

Let’s be a church that values faithful leadership and pursues Christ wholeheartedly.

Big Idea: Love is the highest expression that God’s church pursues together.

1 Corinthians 13 shows us that everything we do as a church—every gift, every act of service, every word—must be rooted in love. Without it, we miss the point.

Love is not optional. It is essential.
It is how the body stays unified.
It is how Christ is seen in us.

Let’s be a church marked by real, Christlike love.

1 Corinthians 12 | Pastor Steve Miller

Big Idea: Spiritual gifts reveal the intentional place and purpose for every believer in God’s church.

Pastor Steve preached from 1 Corinthians 12, showing that spiritual gifts are not random abilities but intentional assignments from the Holy Spirit. Each believer is placed in the body by God’s design, for God’s glory, and for the good of the church.

Paul reminds us that no gift exists for self-promotion. Every gift serves a purpose. Every member belongs. When we understand our place in the body, division fades and unity strengthens. The church flourishes when each believer faithfully uses what God has entrusted to them.

Spiritual gifts are not about status. They are about service. They are evidence that God has intentionally placed you in His church with purpose.
