May 15, 2016 The Steward Concept
The loss of the word “steward” in our vocabulary signals a loss of an important concept, namely, we are not owners. Stewards recognize that everything in their lives is not theirs, but it’s all a gift from God (not earnings, not rewards) and...

May 08, 2016 Counting Every Blessing
“Blessed” is a confusing word in our culture. Some use it to convey that they’re prosperous, others use it to convey they’re lucky. But when God speaks about blessings, he speaks differently than we do. Truth is, we’re all blessed, not identically...

April 24, 2016 Should Christians update their attitudes about sex to the 21st century?
For years people who were divorced, experienced same-sex attraction, or became pregnant out of wedlock were driven to the outskirts of society, shunned and shamed. So in spite of what the Bible might say about sexuality, isn’t acceptance of new norms...

April 17, 2016 Why does God hate on some behaviors and not others?
The idea of “sin” is confusing. Some things the Bible calls sin certainly seem sinful while others are harder to understand. Are the things God calls “sin” simply his arbitrary opinions we are forced to honor because he’s all powerful? Or is there...

April 10, 2016 Rich vs. poor: whose side is God on?
It seems unfair and confusing that God would allow some people to be born into safe, prosperous, loving families while others are born into hell on earth. How can a God who is loving treat his creation so differently?

April 03, 2016 Should Christians really peacefully coexist with other religions who are anything but peaceful?
Some might argue that Muslims and Christians worship the same God, but the escalating tension between Christians and Muslims says otherwise. In a world where Boko Haram, ISIS, al-Qaeda threaten the stability and welfare of the world’s citizens, how...

March 27, 2016 Is the Christian view of “life after death” merely wishful thinking?
In spite of what science indicates about our mortality, most religions teach about some type of “life after death” but is that just wishful thinking? How can we know for sure?

March 20, 2016 Mutual Affection & Love
We usually acquaint the final week of Jesus’ life with sacrifice, but it was his LOVE for our broken, sinful world (and US in it) that fueled his willingness to sacrifice himself. Compassion and its stronger form, LOVE, are the foundation of so many...

March 16, 2016 Heartbroken
At the temple, Jesus is overcome with grief for Jerusalem, lamenting their hardness of heart, their ignorance and their impending destruction. He remembers the things that might have been if not for mankind’s rebellious ways. Jesus causes us to...
