Although no official number is recorded, it is estimated that roughly 1000 people have gone missing in our National Parks since 1916, when the National Park Service was set up. Some people believe that number could be much, much higher since there is no national database to track when people go missing on public lands.
In part one, Cathi & Jenessa will talk about a few missing children who have disappeared seemingly without a trace in National Parks and the central themes that tie their stories together. We pick up right where we left off in part 1, going over how the victims of the Dyatlov expedition were found. The remaining 4 hikers, which would be found months later, had the most gruesome and curious wounds of all. We'll also discuss what they officially list as the causes of death, and then we'll tell you what we think happened. It's one of those cases where there are more questions than answers!

In this episode, we discuss the mysterious event of Dyatlov Pass. A group of 10 hikers start out on an expedition in the Siberian forest. When their check in date goes by without any communication, search parties are called in. The hikers' tent is found mutilated, with perhaps the most startling evidence that it was cut open from the inside out. The hikers bodies begin to be found in startling and unusual conditions.
