This week’s True Crime News episode covers updates on the following:
Today’s episode dives deep into the 1995 torture and murder of 19 year old Colleen Slemmer, by three classmates at a Job Corps vocational training program in Knoxville, Tennessee. Those responsible for her murder are Christa Pike (18), Tadaryl Shipp (17) and Shadolla Peterson(18). Christa Pike is currently imprisoned on death row in Nashville, TN, her execution scheduled for the end of this month, on September 30th 2026, after 30 years in prison! If carried out, she will be the first woman executed in Tennessee in over two centuries. Was this murder part of a Satanic ritual sacrifice, or was it the result of a jealous girlfriend with a horribly abusive childhood snapping and killing her competition? Tune in to find out!
In this week's true crime news episode we open with a discussion (as always) on what we've read, listened to and/or watched this week:
- "The Divorce" by: Frida McFadden
- "Death of the Pastor's Wife" documentary on Netflix- "Sociopath: A Memoir" by: Patric Gagne
- "Heretic", 2024 psychological thriller/horror
Cassidy then leads the discussion of this week's most jarring and tragic True Crime News headlines, including:
- Laura Owens pleads guilty to 'Bachelor' pregnancy fraud
- Hayden Panettiere 'suicide' comes under scrutiny as new evidence arises
- Patrick and Lindsey (NOT Clancy) case--this one a homicide staged as a suicide. The husband did it.
- FLDS cult leader Samuel Bateman receives an additional 24 years for child abuse convictions tacked onto his already 50 year federal prison sentence for sexual abuse and kidnapping of children.
- Lindsay Clancy Verdict Watch! The jury has yet to come to a unanimous verdict after 3 days (17 hrs) of deliberation.
In Part 2/2 of our series on The Charles Manson "family" cult murders, we detail the “LaBianca murders”, explain how the Manson Cult evaded capture by hiding out in the dunes of Death Valley, recount the trial of the century during which Charles Manson flying squirrel style LEAPS from his witness box to attack the judge, and finally share the personality tests and psychiatric analyses of one of America’s more infamous cult leaders.
On this week's True Crime News episode we talk about the possible discovery of Tupac Shakur's killer from a case that has been cold for 30 years, as well as discussing the testimonies of forensic psychiatrists during this week of Lindsay Clancy's ongoing murder trial.
Ever wonder how Dale Carnegie's bestselling self-help book, "How to Win Friends and Influence People" had to do with Charles Manson? Ever wonder how a man who committed no actual murders himself got sentenced to death for the infamous Hollywood Tate-LaBianca murders? We talk about all of this in part 1 of our series on the cult leader and his "family".
True Crime News: In this episode we discuss Luigi Mangione pleading guilty to killing United Healthcare CEO, Brain Thompson. We cover the tragic murders of actor Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner by their son, Nick Reiner. Finally, we include updates to the ongoing trial of Lindsay Clancy over her alleged triple filicide. Thank you for being here, and feel free to follow on Instagram and TikTok, @pathologicalpod
The final countdown! This is Part 4/4 of our series on Adolf Hitler. We uncover the horrors of the human experiments run on concentration camp prisoners by Nazi "doctors", the Nazi's "mercy killings" campaign targeting diseased and disabled children, the method of mass murder primarily implemented at Nazi concentration camps, and the final days of WW2, The Holocaust, and the life of one of the world's most deplorable and narcissistic cowards: Adolf Hitler.
In True Crime News this week we talk about chilling TikTok live behavior from Perez Hilton, and dive further into the murder trial taking the internet by storm. What once seemed like an open and shut "she did it" is quickly becoming a "who done it" as facts emerge that make Patrick Clancy look more and more culpable.
How did Nazi party officials get voted into Germany's democratic parliament? How did Hitler become legally appointed chancellor of a democratic government? And how, within just 30 days, did this genocidal maniac transform a democracy into a bloodthirsty dictatorship? We dive into these questions along with the Nuremburg Laws, the Babyn Yar Massacre, and more in this third installment of our series on this small, sad, little man: Adolf Hitler.
