Prayer is one of the most powerful resources a believer can have! We believe in the power of prayer. However, that does not mean that just because we pray for something to happen, that it will. God can do whatever He wants to do, and He can change whatever He desires to change. But let’s face it, unless God really has a good reason to, not every prayer gets answered the way we want.

Most of us are willing to take credit for the good we do. Some of us are willing to take the rap for the bad we do. But few will assume responsibilities for the mistakes of others. Still fewer will shoulder the blame for mistakes yet uncommitted. Jesus chose to put himself in the middle, not of the spotlight or fame, but of the consequence for sin.

Jesus had been dedicated as a child when he was eight days old according to the custom of his people. As an adult he affirmed his commitment to the will of heaven by being baptized himself. No one can accuse Jesus of asking us to do something he wasn’t willing to do himself. He walked his talk.

How many of us have shrugged and said, “The Devil made me do it!” and used that as an excuse when caught doing something we weren’t supposed to? It’s a convenient defense. But there’s one problem: the Devil can’t make us do anything.
