In 2014, one of our Weird Book operatives conducted a study on Mergotz and stumbled upon a tape recorder hidden beneath a floorboard in an abandoned house in a nearby town. To our surprise, the recording contained the last testament of Dr. Chloe Mullins, a cultural anthropologist. It appears she was researching a phenomenon known as the "Last Fire" and became entangled with some questionable individuals. The tape was subsequently handed over to the FBI, but as of now, there has been no trace of Dr. Mullins.
