The people you meet behind the counter can eventually become your friend. I met Alexis at a Coffee House in La Mesa almost a year from now. Spunky and high spirited, Alexis finds her utmost fulfillment with serving in the food and restaurant industry. Her simple yet meaningful outlook in life gave her the extra boost she deserves in life, self-worth. Even at the brink of an ending relationship, she was challenged to learn valuable life lessons. From workplace to old stomping grounds, her journey slowly brewed an inner peace in her regardless of what she's been through. This conversation both afresh us with a clever insight that "Feeling Responsibly" is a good reminder that we are allowed to feel what we feel; as long as we have the self control for ourselves and the awareness for other people's way of being.

I remember the first time I met Kevin was at a coffee shop in downtown San Diego, late of 2016. Then I received a direct message on Instagram roughly 4 months later where he invited me to grab coffee. I never would have thought that to this day, one of the most humble man I knew is still a friend who's alway been there for me. Not only is Kevin approachable, he is easy to get along. As chill as the sea breeze, he can hold up to a good conversation and is honest about how easy or as hard as it gets. Kevin was fairly new to SoCal when I first met him but that didn't hold him back in finding ways to serve the local community. Found friends that also became a consistent part of his athletic disciplines and outdoor escapades. Then about a year before this conversation, we had lost touch. Random as the wave goes, Kevin and I picked up where we left off. In this conversation I found out how life crashed on Kevin and how his perseverance led him to find a new direction in life, out in the horizon.

I've known Haley since 2016 but it wasn't until 2017 that we started collaborating on projects. We quickly discovered how tight-knit our circle of friends are that led to initiating numerous projects with a community of creatives. Haley thrives with a bond of like-minded artist and creators. Her raw and unapologetic approach to music embraced vulnerability that fostered honest conversations. It all started with her album Confessions. Haley is one of many leaders who's demeanor is sprightly and warm. Yet behind the scenes she is struck down with relentless burdens as she mobilizes co-leaders to carry out with her God-given advocacy. Bent over sorrow and empathy, Haley struggles to make sense of the significant weight of her pursuits. As always, she is met with understanding that faith can move mountains, how much more a boulder. Ben and I have been friends for 5 years. There was always something that stands out to me when I see Ben, his boldness. Always on his toes yet making sure that he recognizes the environment and people around. Being free flow and agile at capturing streams of creativity meshed in stories puts Ben as a top-performing photographer. His day job as a craftsman sets him down in a different scenario that challenged him to be more collective and austere. Although Ben's creative personality can set a mood and cast a bright appearance of beauty, he is realizing that there is more refinement in his life when no one is looking. Leah and I have known each other since 2016. I met her through a social gathering that quickly turned to a regular meet up when we both became leaders of an organization based in San Diego. I’m inspired by Leah’s generosity to give her time and energy towards others. Whether that’s helping organize an event or making time to catch up with family and friends; she deeply cares about people. Pursuing a career in firefighting put Leah through the fire of choosing survival between what matters the most. In this conversation, Leah is less than a month away before moving to East Coast where she finds herself in a dream that set ablaze a desire to keep pursuing relationships.

Levi and I have been friends for more than 5 Years. In those years I've always seen how involved Levi was in the community. I admired his heart to help and serve behind the scenes. You won't always see him in the midst of a crowd. When you do, he is running alongside leaders who rely on his ability to administer, organize, and create. I learned that at this point in his life, he felt the race he was running is by himself. Even though he traveled frequently across the globe with numerous organizations at the age of 24, his race is just starting. This conversation will unpack Levi's realization about what he is fighting for and what this turning point looks like.

My desire from these conversations is for me to keep saying ‘I don’t know’ but I want to learn and I want to understand. Just like a song whether I’m familiar to it or not, I will keep listening hoping to get Last Song Syndrome so I get to keep singing it! Would you agree that life is like a song made of notes, lyrics, instruments and patterns and because I got to know you more; Now I know how to sing about you.
