Paul and Caroline Daley review TV - Handmaid's Tale | The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel | This Is US | Westworld | Stranger Things

Migraines can't stop us from getting our podcast out. They can definitely challenge us, but they won't stop us.

After a week of medical ups and downs, here is our podcast for the exciting fourth episode of the second season of the Leftovers. A lot happened and more questions were raised. Mainly, can we trust Patti? As you listen to the podcast, you may wonder what Caroline is referring to as a "Boogedy". As near as I can tell, the term is inspired by this charming piece of  classic television. She is simply referring to any possibly malignant spirit, like Patti, whose motives have yet to be proven. We also get to take a closer look at John Murphy as Kevin expands the circle of people that he commits felonies with.

In case you thought might be watching an entirely different show over the last couple of weekends with the Murphys and the newly reconstituted Garveys in Jarden, TX, Tom and Laurie bring the bleak as they try to reclaim wayward Guilty Remnant members back into humanity. No, the GR has not gone away and in fact, they've found a new leader who's willing to do anything to show how upset she feels with Laurie (I'm not going to tell who though!) Fair warning, the sense of humor of the last two episodes must come with the new location because there are no laughs back in the old neighborhood where Tom and Laurie cohabit. Listen to some ideas on why that new GR leader might have did what she did and other deep thoughts as we examine this week's episode.

Chris Zylka was pretty impressed we had a National Geographic with us. If you can't remember, this is what the actor that plays Tommy looks like with all of his clothes on.

You didn't really think this show would completely leave the Garveys for another family, did you? Good. That would have been silly of you. In this episode, we catch up with a newly-born incarnation of the Garveys with Kevin and Jill greeting Nora Durst and baby Lily into the clan. The scene in Mapleton has gotten stale, and Kevin needs a change of scenery so they pack up a U-haul, hook it up to the Dog-killer's Dodge Ram, and make their way to Jarden, TX, population 9,261 (otherwise known as the largest city in the world with no departures). Team Daley Review dives into this episode and brings some of what we saw in person on location in Lockhart, TX into the conversation as it relates to the buildings and... geography (get it?).

The season finale of the first season of AMC's Fear The Walking Dead was strong. It was not quite up to the gut-wrenching level I've come to expect from its older sibling-series, but considering how slowly FTWD started, this was a pretty good ride. We had a zombie hoard, a Travis losing his cool, and finally and a major death! Not to be morbid or anything, but the drama these shows thrive on requires character death from time to time and this show hadn't gone there yet. Daley Review is looking forward to what this show does next season (but we're mostly ready for Rick Grimes and friends to remind us what a zombie show really looks like).

We're going to have to go out of order here to stay current with the release of new material for the show. The premiere of the second season of The Leftovers aired last night, so we've got to get this out now!

In this podcast, we will tell you about our trips to the premiere in Austin, TX, as well as to Lockhart, TX, where HBO filmed most of the second season. Once we finish, we move on to discussing this excellent start to the second season. we don't get much Garvey action, but instead we meet the Murphys of Jarden, TX. Is everything in Jarden as it seems? Not if all we have to go by is the behavior of the Murphys.

Here are some of the screencaps and pictures we mention in the podcast:

Things get very real between Kevin and Patti in this episode as Kevin and the dog-killer have Patti over to a quaint out-of-the-way spot in Cairo, New York, to discuss life, sleep, and all things related to the Sudden Departure. Jill and Nora officially meet over dinner at the Garvey's and Jill has finally had enough of Aimee. This episode has some literary heft to it and Caroline does the heavy-lifting and tells us about the origin of the poem Patti recites at the end of the episode.
