God didn't need the Resurrection, the redemptive love of God was already demonstrated in Jesus life, but it isn't some idle tale, it is yet another reminder of God's saving power.

The Passion Gospel is a powerful narrative that may make us uncomfortable.  Here we consider how we might be called to place ourselves within this narrative rather than distance ourselves from it.

This sermon explores the theme of love, throughout the Gospel, but in this particular case through the annointing Mary offers Jesus and the response of the other disciplines.  Love isn't rational.  God is love.  We are called to irrational behavior in the name of love.

The familiar parable of the Prodigal Son as found in the Gospel of Luke calls us to examine our own lives and relationships.  How can we also be mended with God's grace?

As Ascension gathered to offer Outbound Recognition this Sunday, so too, the sermon revealed how God is calling us all to serve.  A comparison between the called Moses experienced with the parable Christ offers about the fig tree.
