Today is the Second Sunday of Lent. Our sermon series "Blessed Are" continues with a look at Matthew 5:4-5. Rev. Shannon Blosser focuses on the nature of mourning and how it relates to the principle of meekness. He says that what we see in Christ is how we are called to respond to the injustices that face our time.

Today we begin a new sermon series called "Blessed Are." Each week during Lent, we will examine a part of the Beatitudes and what they say to us today in this season of renewal and repentance. This week, Rev. Shannon Blosser focuses on Matthew 4:23-5:3 and "Blessed are the poor in spirit." He talked about how being poor in spirit is about having a posture of humility for God and what that looks like for us today.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. In today's sermon, Rev. Shannon Blosser focuses on Matthew 6:1-18. He focuses on our motives for entering the Lenten journey and how this is a season intended for spiritual renewal and growth.

This week is Transfiguration Sunday. Rev. Shannon Blosser looks at the story of Jesus' glory being revealed to Peter, James, and John through Matthew 17:1-13. He talks about the ongoing revival at Asbury University, our own high mountaintop moments of encountering God's presence, and how they lead us to faithful living today.

This week's sermon comes from Matthew 5:21-26. Rev. Shannon Blosser talks about how anger can harm our relationships with one another, and how God calls us to seek reconciliation in moments when our anger harms our connections.

This week's sermon is from Matthew 5:13-15. Rev. Shannon Blosser looks at the call to be a shining city on a hill through the lens of the mental health crisis in America. He talks about his own experience with mental health challenges, how the church perpetuates stigmas, and what we can do to a light that shines for others in dark times.

This week, our focus is on 1 Corinthians 1:18-31. Our podcast begins with our chancel choir singing "Blessed Be the Name." This leads to Rev. Shannon Blosser speaking on how everything we do as followers of Christ must point to the cross. He says that our focus on our divisions distracts from the message of the Gospel.

This week's sermon is based on Matthew 4:12-22. Rev. Shannon Blosser talks about the start of Jesus' public ministry in Galilee and his call to his first disciples to follow him. Rev. Blosser examines what it means to follow Jesus and how each day is an opportunity to recommit ourselves to the journey of Christ.
