For D'Angelo's 50th birthday, this special interview with fellow Virginia native, Michael Millions is being released from the vault.

Michael Millions is a revered lyricist and music engineer from the same stomping ground as D'Angelo, Richmond, Virginia. He's the only artist from RVA (that we know of) who personally got his Brown Sugar samples approved directly from the legend himself. This interview will give insight into why he is so special!

Enoch Armando King is a Georgia native who has acted in numerous films and at least eight theater companies. His movie credits include Uncle Drew, The Watson’s go to Birmingham, Drumline, The Fighting Temptations, and Madea’s Family Reunion. He has also appeared on TV with Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, BET’s Let’s Stay Together, and various commercials. His most recent roles include The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey TV series starring Samuel L. Jackson, Till (the Emmett Till Movie) and of course we had to discuss his role as D'Angelo or "Man" in the final season of the Atlanta FX TV series.

Influenced by Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and the Delta blues of the 1920s, Rocco DeLuca is a self-taught musician from California. His sound has been described as raw, confessional and bluesy with a brooding and ethereal tone. He has released collaborative and solo albums, scored a number of films and there is one soundtrack in particular that is the reason for this discussion, the soundtrack for Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 video game, featuring artists like Willie Nelson, Rhiannon Giddens and D'Angelo.

In part two of this season finale episode 2x Grammy-winning songwriter and vocalist Kendra Foster talks about how she went from Tallahassee, Florida to working with D'Angelo as a member of the Vanguard. She also reveals her favorite song on the Black Messiah album (yes, it's one that she co-wrote) and what's next in her funkadelic musical journey.

Ethnomusicologist, Loren Kajikawa also shares whether his thoughts have evolved since his academic article — D'Angelo's Voodoo Technology: African Cultural Memory and the Ritual of Popular Music Consumption was published a decade ago, and touches on the influence of the late producer, J Dilla in D'Angelo's Voodoo technology.
