We live in a world today where everything is moving practically at the speed of light. Many people are already preoccupied and busy at is, now couple that with social media and the convenience of having things done with just a click of a button on our smart phones, we can find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, tired, and tense quite often. We make time for our career demands, retirement goals, family responsibilities, weekly errands but neglect to take care of ourselves. Self-care is so much more than just a feel good catch phrase or something we skim past when reading through the self improvement section at Barnes and Nobles. We must! I repeat we must make time in our lives to start implementing weekly rhythms of self-care if we aspire to improve on our overall mental and physical health.
In this week's podcast, I had the privilege of bringing on an amazing clinician named Rhodena Masadieu. Rhodena is a licensed clinical social worker, trauma therapist, and the owner of Restore Wellness Counseling Services. Rhodena's specialty involves working with women and children sexual assault victims, and helping them heal past their sexual trauma and the stigma that's associated with being a sexual abuse victim. This episode will inform and encourage those who've been deeply affected by the rippling effects that comes with trying to make sense of one's life after experiencing sexual abuse. Tune in!
In this week's podcast, I brought on my colleague and friend Eddie Archer, who's also a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. We take a look into how mental health is being brought to the forefront in a lot of ministries and churches. We also discussed how there's still a bit of a stigma in some churches who push forth the idea that Christians should be beyond their mental health illnesses and struggles, and if not, then something must be wrong. We discuss some ways to find common ground with both perspectives. Tune in!
In this week's episode my guest is Ms. Lawanda Lawson. She will be sharing how grief has impacted her personally, and how she's had to grapple with depression throughout the grieving process. Oftentimes when dealing with grief, we can assume that everybody responds to grief in the same manner when that's so far from the truth. We will delve into some of the roadblocks when attempting to process your grief after the funeral service is over and you're left trying to make sense of everything by yourself.
Peaceful Chaos is dedicated and intentional about creating a safe space where various mental health topics an be discussed in depth from an authentic vantage point.
