Peakland UMC

from Peakland United Methodist Church in Lynchburg, Va.

From Pastor Joe:

Let’s listen to our story from the Bible which was adapted by Ella K. Lindvall.

The Boy Who Went Away from the Gospel of Luke.

In the story the parent loves the child always.

IN our lives, God loves us and call us all children.

God loves us. God loves you.

Andrew reflects on a sacred moment with a few of our preschoolers.

From Pastor Joe:

In my office I have this framed quote “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you can.” John Wesley. Many folks call this John Wesley’s rule of life.

From Pastor Dave:

Like has many of you, Linda and I have watched the Services of Remembrance for Queen Elizabeth II. I especially liked the service from St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh Scotland. We were surprised and trilled to hear an anthem composed by the grandson of Charles Wesley.

From Pastor Joe:

Avoid Harm. Do Good. Follow Christ.

In 1743 as Methodism in England was expanding, John Wesley, who established the Methodist movement wrote three general rules for the Methodist people to follow.

Avoid Harm. Do Good. Follow Christ.

From Linwood:

Once again the boys are at it. My friend and fellow collaborator Lynn Nash and I team up to do a groove version of the old hymn Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing. This is definitely not the version you would hear in grandma’s church.

From Pastor joe:

Grace and peace to you, today is September 18, 2022. Welcome to Sunday morning worship. I’m Rev. Joe Cailles, the pastor at Peakland United Methodist Church in Lynchburg Virginia.

All are welcome to this worship and into the life of our church community. Andrew will be on screen in just a moment to share with you the ministries that are happening here at Peakland and all are welcome to join in our ministries. From Pastor Joe:

In our devotion today we’re going to do three things. Can you hold up three fingers? We’re going to sing our song with our mouths and use our fingers. We’re going to listen to a story from the Bible with our ears, and we’re going to pray the action prayer with using our words and our actions.

Andrew reflects on his good friend Juan, and the people who have been with him throughout his life.
