For today’s devotion I’m using This Day, A Wesleyan Way of Prayer, created by Larry Stookey, who was my worship professor at Wesley Theological Seminary. This is the prayer book that I use most days in my morning devotion once I arrive at the church.

It’s a combination of scriptures and guided prayers which I’ve adapted to share with you today.

All are welcome to this worship and all are welcome for our online communion today.

This Sunday at Peakland is World Communion Sunday and along with Christians around the world today, we are celebrating communion in person and today we expand the table to include you worshipping online. Welcome. Whether or not you are a member of Peakland church or any church, whatever age you are, you are welcome for worship and for communion. Adults, children, youth all are welcome to receive this sacrament.. If you seek to follow God more closely, if you seek to live in right relationship with your neighbor, then you are welcome to celebrate communion today. We’ll do that after the sermon. You’ll need a bit of bread and a cup of grape juice to participate.

The Boy who shared his lunch from the Gospel of John. In the story a young child shares food with Jesus so Jesus can share the food with others.

This Sunday, September 4th, Peakland is going to do a new thing in our online worship. We are going to have online communion. If you are worshipping online on Sunday morning September 4th, then you are welcome to celebrate communion with us who are having communion together in person at Peakland.

While we gather around the physical communion table at the church, you’ll join us where you are.

You’ll need two things to participate: a single cup of grape juice and some bread or crackers. It doesn’t have to be a fancy cup or special bread. I’ve got my very favorite mug and some ordinary sandwich bread. That’s all you need.

Andrew reflects on handbell techniques and what we can learn about God from the hum of a bell.

This past Sunday at Peakland After Dark, I had our youth build bridges. We made our first set of bridges with Lego blocks. The youth were very creative with their Lego bridges.

We talked about different types of bridges….bridges that help us cross rivers and canyons and bridges that help us cross the divides between people. We United Methodists are always looking for ways that we can bridge the divide between people who can help and people who need help.

Over the next few weeks, I will share some of our basic beliefs as United Methodist. My source is the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church: Part III Doctrinal Standards.

Peakland United Methodist….why do we call ourselves United Methodists? Are there disjointed Methodists? What makes us so methodical?

If you’re new to Methodism or even if you’ve been a United Methodist for a while, you may have questions about Methodism. Who is this John Wesley person that we Methodists talk about? Methodists talk a lot about conferences. Is a Methodist conference an event or an organization?

For our Horizons Service, and a lot of times for our online services I use moving backgrounds for the lyrics to the songs we are singing. Most of them I have filmed in various places around our neck of the woods, as the old saying goes. On occasion I get some help from some friends who might be on vacation or just out and about.

One of my ham radio buddies, Olen Persons, sent me some short film clips he shot while on a camping trip out west with his wife. The video and pictures were awe inspiring - God’s creation in all it’s glory

And what better song to put with Olen’s videos than the song Happy Day!
