After feeding the multitude, Jesus sent His disciples across the lake on a boat to meet Him on the other side. On the way, they encountered a storm.  

We learn several important lessons: 

1. Sometimes, Jesus leads us through storms to build our faith. 

• The presence of storms does not mean you are outside of God’s will. It may indicate that you are in God’s will, that the Enemy is resisting you, and that God is developing your faith for what lies ahead. 

2. Remember that Jesus is near to us amid storms. 

• Just as Jesus was not far from the disciples, He is near to us amid our storms as well. 

3. Our own efforts are never enough. Jesus calms our storms when we invite Him into our “boat.” 

• Their own efforts were insufficient. When they invited Jesus into their boat, He calmed the storm and brought them to the other side. 

4. On the other side of our storms are people whom God calls us to reach. 

• Many people were ministered to when they reached the other side of their storm.

The third miracle that Jesus performed, according to John’s gospel, was the healing of a man who had been paralyzed for 38 years. This amazing account reveals to us several essential truths: 1. Jesus sees us in our suffering and cares for us. (v. 6) 2. Jesus’ desire is to heal and free us to live the life He has created for us to live. (v. 9) 3. Jesus commands us to walk in freedom rather than revert to our past sins. (v. 14)

God’s miracles are important for the spreading of the Gospel, since some people will not believe in Jesus until they personally see and experience signs and wonders.

Jesus is the Son of God and promised Savior of the World. Jesus performed numerous miraculous acts while here on earth, validating this truth. His first miracle was the turning of water into wine when the host of a party ran out of wine for their guests. What began as an embarrassing problem became an opportunity for God’s power to be displayed. This miracle turned water into wine and skeptics into believers. The ultimate purpose of God’s miracles is to reveal His glory and bless people.
