This audio is from a LIVE interview on 5/7/2021. I hope you enjoy and learn from this amazing interview. It is one of the most important interviews I have done. P.S.
I wanted to edit something I said. Some dx may actually affect how we go about exercises. My point was that their goals won't dramatically change and to reduce the fear caregivers may have in sharing dx.
Thank you for listening,
Marlene PT
Potty training is hard! As a therapist I am not always sure what the best advice is to give parents that are potty training their kids. In this interview with author and COTA, Tasha Powers she will talk about potty training children with Autism. While the interview is geared towards Autism these strategies are helpful for any child. This interview is not only helpful to therapists coaching parents but for parents! Tasha will also talk about her new book, The Holy Grail of Potty Training along with free resources she has made and placed in a digital toolbox! Is NUTRITION the missing link when therapists treat patients with ASD, SPD, or other behavior deficits? If we addressed Nutrition would our patients have better functional outcomes? Would our patients demonstrate improvements in participation and focusing on activities? Elisa Rocks RDN taught me a lot during this interview. I feel that Nutrition is an area that I have not addressed with most of my patients and should have been. I strive to look at the whole person when treating my patients but I haven't been because I was not asking about what they are eating. Thank you Elisa for providing us with a look into the role that Nutrition plays with this population. This footage belongs to Whole Motion Therapy and Wellness, PLLC.
