February 14, 2026ZX Spectrum Floppy and Tape Deck Repairs
In this video, I’m clearing some space on the bench by finishing up a batch of Amstrad-era ZX Spectrums. Watch as I tackle the messy job of cleaning out degraded "tar" drive belts in two ZX Spectrum +3 disk drives and getting a Gray +2 tape deck back into shape.
In this repair:
Testing & Diagnostics: Using a diagnostics card to verify RAM and system health.
+3 Disk Drive Service: Removing "goo" from the spindles and replacing the 3-inch drive belt.
Grey +2 Tape Repair: Replacing a snapped eject spring and servicing the drive for a successful "Whizball" fast-load.
