September 2025 saw the return of Richard Osman's crime-fighting team of senior citizens, The Thursday Murder Club, in their 5th outing "The Impossible Fortune". I have been a big fan of the series so far although I found quality could be somewhat uneven.
Another year, another collected volume of the Saga comic. The epic SF/Fantasy story of war, family and politics continues..but is much really happening to drive the narrative forward after over a decade? Will this story ever start heading for some sort of conclusion?
In the fourth of what were supposed to be quick off-the-cuff reviews I look at a magnum opus by paranormal chronicler Joshua Cutchin. Starting with what seem like crazy anecdotes about fictional characters walking in the real world, Cutchin takes a deep look at the power of story and narrative and how it creates our reality and may well be the key to many unexplained events. A real noodle-scratcher this one, I hope my review does it justice.
I recently learned that one can buy electric guitar pickups stuffed into a piece of wood as a ready-made product. So I remembered that I had this no-name spare pickup, created a neat little box around it and set out to see what this could do in terms of, erm, something like music.
