NATO European governments continue to have public and perceptible levels of anxiety over a perceived threat that the United States will leave NATO. Fearmongering ignores the fact that nearly all NATO countries have blatantly ignored spending commitments they agreed to in 2014. The new NATO Secretary General acknowledges this fact and agrees that rectifying the ignored spending commitments is necessary.
