What do you do first when a serious problem hits? As a child of God, is prayer with fasting a last resort, or is it your first line of defense? Problems in our lives did not indicate we are unusual, unspiritual, or forsaken by God. Problems happen to the righteous & the unrighteous. However, people within whom Christ dwells by faith are empowered to face their problems & overcome them victoriously. In Ezra 8:21-23 we see three things happen: 1.) Ezra faces a problem, 2.) Ezra humbles himself & proclaims a fast among all the people, & 3.) God responds favorably to Ezra & answers his prayer. Ezra prayed & fasted for God's leadership & protection over his life, his little ones, & his legacy. Ezra effectively closed the gap between fear & faith, between trouble & triumph, between problems & prosperity. We can have what Ezra had, by doing what Ezra did. It's called the Ezra Fast, & in this message we talk about a 6-step prescription to implement the Ezra Fast successfully in your life when you're facing a serious problem. Several of these points come from a great book I highly recommend called Fasting for Spiritual Breakthrough by Elmer Towns, Chapter 3, pages 47-70. God doesn't want us to merely stand in the gap - He wants us to close the gap! (Originally uploaded on July 26, 2020)
