Before Calder’s death, Carla was an Emmy-winning TV writer and producer with over thirty years of experience creating network content, and co-founder of 2C Creative, a media production company in Miami working with networks including HBO, A&E and FOX.

After losing her son, Carla and her husband Chris launched Caleb and Calder Sloan’s Awesome Foundation to support families in need. Calder’s enduring legacy of kindness inspired a campaign featured on Times Square jumbotrons and on shows including Good Morning America and The Kelly Clarkson Show. Hundreds of thousands of people later read part of Carla’s story in Laura Lynne Jackson’s bestseller Signs, which led to an outpouring of letters from readers asking to learn more.

Carla’s memoir, Everywhere: How I Overcame Unbearable Grief and Learned to Live Again by Tapping into the Other Side, chronicles how Calder kept her from succumbing to grief by dropping breadcrumbs that led her out of the darkness and onto her true path.
