Perfectly Un-Perfect

Your choices are going to determine whether or not you get to experience all that God has planned for you.  Because the thing about choices is that we aren’t choosing between what we think. Banning Liebscher says in his book, The three-mile walk,” Life is not a choice between a safe and easy path and a hard and dangerous path.  It is a choice between trusting God or trusting anything or anyone else.  Both are risky. Both are dangerous. Both are difficult.  Both are costly.  But one path--partnering with God and becoming who we were created to be-- leads us to the greatest prize in the universe, while the other leads to destruction.”   

Yes, marriage is hard. But so is divorce.  Yes, working out is hard. But so is being unhealthy.  Yes, paying off debt is hard but so is living paycheck to paycheck.  Yes, following God is hard but so is living without Him guiding your steps.  We are not choosing between easy and hard.   We are choosing between life and death.  And the death may be the death of a relationship, the death of our spiritual walk, the death of our purpose, it doesn’t have to be physical.  Isn’t that exactly what the widow of Zarephath was choosing between, even if she didn’t know it?

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you have only enough to sustain you for that month, or for that day or even just for that moment?  Only enough money to pay the bills but not enough for the extras.  Only enough strength to get out of bed but not enough to be present with your kids. Only enough patience to bite your tongue but not enough to say a kind word.  Only enough hope to hang on by a thread but not enough to see a way out.  Only enough faith to pray just one more time but not enough to believe for a miracle. Well then this series is perfect for you!  We will be taking a look at a woman in the Bible who felt the exact same way but when God came into her situation was able to take what little she had and perform a miracle.  

In today's episode, Lauren Caldwell shares her testimony on what it was like to be in a save-the-date season when God placed it on her heart to adopt and be a foster mom.  Little did she know that she would not be receiving the formal invitation to step forward in that calling for TEN years.  This interview is full of raw emotion, brutal honesty and a whole lot of hope for the woman that is stepping out in faith and being obedient to God.

In today's episode we will be talking about what happened after God told Jeroboam that he was going to be King of Israel.  We will be talking about the mistakes Jeroboam made by not waiting on God or trusting His process.  We will look at the reasonings behind Jeroboam's decisions and compare how we still react in those same ways today.  We will apply biblical truths to daily living and give a practical application to how to wait on God.  

There's  a pretty predictable process that God uses in the Bible to invite people into their calling.  Over the next four weeks we will be taking a closer look at this process and how King Jeroboam answered his own personal invitation.  We will learn from the mistakes he made along the way in an effort to better understand our own personal tendencies.  We will see how God still uses this process today and how to recognize it in our own lives.   

In today's episode we'll be talking about the first step of the invitation, the "Save The Date".  We'll be talking about how to recognize if you have been sent a save the date and what to do in a save the date season of life.  Far too often, we don't recognize the stage that we are in and feelings of discouragement, disappointment and doubt will come against our faith.  

This is the encouragement to hold tight and remind us of God's faithfulness.
