Perfectville - Miami Dolphins

This Week:

The boys take some time to look at the REST of The AFC East on this episode of Welcome To Perfectville. The Bills, Patriots and Jets each had various levels of success and failure in 2020 and their offseason approaches reflect that. The Patriots went on a spending spree, The Bills added talent to surround their young QB and The Jets…well…we aren’t sure what they are doing.

That being said, we still take the time to discuss each team’s current state, grade their offseason (so far) and where they should go in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Speaking of which, WE ARE LIVESTREAMING THE FIRST ROUND OF THE NFL DRAFT! Thursday, April 29th on Twitter, Facebook and Youtube, simultaneously!

Also, The Dolphins lost a great fan recently. Our friend Brian Byrne, Co-Founder of the Fin-Addicts Network, passed away recently. A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help his family with any and all costs. Please donate if you can.

Sam is almost out of his temporary recording location and back into the Perfectville West studio, Chris is still in his Perfectville East studio, and The Dolphins are almost on the clock! The boys review Miami’s free agency plan and how it relates to the aforementioned NFL Draft. Did Miami make enough moves to pass on taking playmakers early? Or are they hiding in plain sight with their free agency moves and showing us exactly what the plan is?

Speaking of the NFL Draft, Miami made a flurry of trades with the 49ers and Eagles. When the dust settled, The Dolphins picked up extra first round draft picks in future years and only moved back three spots. Are they done wheeling and dealing? Or do they stay put and take the best player available on their board once the fifth pick is selected? Sam and Chris bounce these and other scenarios around, including which position groups they are imploring Miami to stay away from at all costs in the first round.

Plus, Miami signed another player. This by itself, isn’t shocking, but the fact that this player is OVER 30 YEARS OLD, is. John Jenkins and his elderly 31 year old body is now part of the team! We don’t know if he will be good or not, but we love the fact that we can pronounce his last name.

Free Agency has started! And so has the overreactions from fans. The Miami Dolphins were big spenders in the 2020 free agent class. 2021? Not so much. At least, at first glance, it appears that The Dolphins weren’t terribly aggressive filling holes with the 2021 free agency class. Upon a closer look, however, perhaps Miami got all the groceries they needed form the free agency store, afterall.

Sam and Chris sit down and review all the moves Miami has made since the start of the new year, including some interesting additions to the offensive line. A talented but troubled tackle? Check. A talented but injured center who can’t seem to snap the ball? Check. A restricted free agent linemen with a funny last name? Check.

But enough hanky Pankey. The Dolphins traded for or signed, 12 new players this week. That equates to 22% of their roster. So while it feels like Miami didn’t do a lot, in actuality, they did the following:

-Signed a starting wide receiver

-Signed competent back-up quarterback

-Add a bruising tailback to their RBBC

-Stole a pass rushing defensive tackle from a division rival

-Traded for a starting middle linebacker and of course, most important of all…

-A NEW PUNTER!

Other moves were made as well. To find out all about them, download the show, listen and help Chris come up with a better fantasy football name than what he suggested!

The boys are back in the saddle. Chris has a new gig and Sam has a new kid. And they get to talk about the best positional unit on the offense? Triple score!

The Miami Dolphins have one of the best Tight Ends in football in Mike Gesicki. And his fellow tight ends, Durham Smythe and Adam Shaheen are perfectly cast in their roles. So why would The Dolphins look to change this winning formula at all in 2021?

The short answer is that they probably won’t. But the long answer? Well, that is when it starts to get interesting. Mike Gesicki is a free agent after the 2021 season and it stands to reason that he is going to cost a pretty penny (as well as a few ugly ones). So could Miami hedge their bets a year early and sign a big name free agent? Or would they look to use their draft capitol on a player like Kyle Pitts to pair with Gesicki for a year and use as leverage next offseason?

It sounds crazy, but then again, you are talking about a franchise that just cut their prized free agent signing from last year in Kyle Van Noy and traded for the biggest first year draft bust in modern history in Isaiah Wilson. So crazy is sort of in the team’s DNA. Either way, there is plenty to talk about as we enter The Tight Ends Room.

Welp, Tom Brady won ANOTHER Super Bowl, Zach Thomas was left out of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and all of our players and coaches that were up for awards got snubbed. And if it couldn’t get any worse for Miami Dolphins fans everywhere, we talk about our abysmal running back performance in 2020.

Yay.

It’s no secret to Citizens of Perfectville everywhere that the team struggled rushing the ball. But exactly HOW bad did they struggle? Sam and Chris break it down and put it into a sad, sad perspective.

But how does the team fix it? Is there a solution already on the roster? Or does the entire room need to be flushed out like a giant enema with new talent joining the squad? And if so, where does that new talent come from? Draft? Trade? Free Agents? The boys break down the best lane for the team to run through as we enter The Running Backs Room.

The wide receivers for The Miami Dolphins in 2020 were not good. In fact, they weren’t even okay. They were bad. Very bad. And injured. And not open. In fact, it was one of the worst offensive outputs The Dolphins have ever had from a wide receiving group.

What went wrong? Did anything go right? And more importantly, how do they fix it in 2021 and beyond? Sam and Chris review the awful group of wide receivers that The Miami Dolphins employed in 2020 and try to decipher what positives they can from it.

The boys then jump into the fun part of the show with free agency options and rookies to keep an eye on with the upcoming NFL draft. What veteran receiver makes the most sense for The Dolphins? Could Miami pass on the upper echelon on rookie wide outs and instead elect to fill the holes later on in the draft?

Find out Sam and Chris’s plan to fix The Wide Receivers Room.

Tua Tagovailoa and Ryan Fitzpatrick led The Miami Dolphins from the quarterback position in 2020. At times, both of them were amazing. At other times, both were maddening. Sam and Chris break down the position t length in this episode. What went right? What went wrong? And how doe they get better in 2021?

Speaking of 2021, there a lot of rumors swirling around the team as to who will be the starting QB. General Manager Chris Grier and Head Coach Brian Flores have both stated that Tua is the guy, but chatter still remains about the team drafting another QB in the first round, or trading for DeShaun Watson. The boys sift through all the static and let you know the best, and most realistic options for The Dolphins in 2021.

And once they figure out the starting QB, they still have to decide on the back up. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a fee agent. Would he come back and accept a full time position as the back up? Does Miami spend a mid-round draft pick on a project Quarterback? Or do they take to the open market to see what, if any, possible veterans make sense to bring to south beach to help solidify The Quarterbacks Room.

Another postseason watching from the couch. The Dolphins come up (WAY) short against The Bills in the final game of the season and miss the playoffs for the 345th consecutive year. What went right and, more importantly, what went wrong, against Josh Allen and The Bills?

And even though The Dolphins missed the playoffs, they still went 10-6 and have HELLA draft picks! Sam and Chris kick around ideas as to what Miami should do with those picks. Should they trade them? Should they stay put? And if they do, who do they pick with those picks?

We also run through another batch of Elite Tweet or Delete Tweet candidates, which may or may not set back society 45 years, make our case as to why Zach Thomas deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, and much, much more.

And of course, we look forward to the second most important offseason in recent Miami Dolphins history!

Fitzmagic put on a show against The Las Vegas Raiders in the fourth quarter to keep the playoff dream alive for The Miami Dolphins. But his theatrics have led to a lot of debate amongst Dol-fans as to who is better equipped to lead the team into Buffalo to face the Bills. Will Tuamania run wild? Or with The Fitzmagic Show have an encore performance?

Sam and Chris also run through another batch of Elite Tweet or Delete Tweet candidates. Including some from their own accounts.

And of course, we look forward to the Week 17 matchup against the hated Buffalo Bills. What does Miami need to do to win? And will they win? All that and more!

The Miami Dolphins continue their warp speed makeover as they win against The New England Patriots, keeping their playoff hopes alive, killing Bill belichick’s playoff dreams and securing a winning season in year two of the Brian Flores era. Sam and Chris discuss the incredible turn around which resulted in another top notch defensive effort and even included a running game this week!

The boys also review the week that was on Twitter, with another batch of Elite Tweet or Delete Tweet. As usual, the fan base and beat writers cooked up a fair share of controversial posts before, during and after the game. Sam and Chris help you separate the cream from the crap.

And a couple of special guests join that show as SAMta Claus and Chris Kringle read and answer letters from The Citizens of Perfectville! Who was naughty, who was nice? Listen and find out!

Oh, and we review The Dolphins/Raiders game at some point, as well.
