  • Carrie Abbott: Faith and Frittles!

In this delicious episode, John and Kat chat with candy-maker and entrepreneur and super optimist, Carrie Abbott, as she shares her journey navigating a series of life and business hurdles with optimism and faith.

    We discuss:

    • How accepting unexpected offers  grew into a new opportunities
    • How daring to be obvious can lead to the most creative ideas
    • The power of "just keep moving"

And Carrie, John and Kat play the "Life is like a..." game.

Carrie Abbott transformed a culinary mishap and turned it into a delectable national brand. Frittle, the fudge-like brittle, a soft, crispy peanut brittle confection, was born when the then caterer developed the recipe for a wedding reception.

The throwback candy went from a local artisan treat in 2012 to a national feature as a recurring QVC on-air guest, Amazon, Fresh Market, JoAnn Fabric, Fresh Thyme, Ingles, Market District, Target, Barnes & Noble, and shelves of other regional and national retailers.

After building a successful business with Newfangled Confections, Carrie scaled and diversified her product offering with the acquisition of a craft chocolatier company, The Best Chocolate in Town in 2020. This purchase allowed her to not only bolster her current confectionery inventory but also add new lines of business which resulted in company growth in the midst of a pandemic.

Carrie is a forever optimist and believes in empowering her team. By giving them a voice and creative freedoms, they grow as professionals while the company enjoys growth through innovation and fresh ideas.

She works and lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with her husband of 24 years and 2 teenage daughters.
