In the first episode of the Myths over Tea podcast, I dive into the amazing story of Zaal and the majestic bird, Simorgh from Persian epic, Shahnameh.
Written by Ferdowsi, Shahnameh or The Book of Kings, took 33 years to finish and it was completed in early 11th century. It is a hallmark of Persian literature and culture, filled with incredible mythical stories.
In this podcast, I aim to share these stories with you through my own retelling.
Hope you enjoy this first episode and please follow for more exciting episodes!
As I mentioned in the episodes, the first part of each episode is a retelling of the actual story from Shahnameh which I put my own spin on it; but this retelling only adds more atmospheric elements to the story to make it more intriguing to the listener. I do not change the original story, simply add more stage directions to it.
The parts in the episodes which are poems, are direct quotations used from the book Persian Myths and Tales by Flame Tree Publishing. The rest of the script is written by me.
