Renowned hypnotherapist and UK Hypnosis Academy lead trainer Karl Smith joins to discuss hypnotherapy and hypnosis, as well as his own personal journey. Karl explains his take on what hypnosis is, levels of hypnotic trance, street hypnosis, what makes a good hypnotherapist and a good subject and on past life regression.
What is past life regression? What is the basis for believing in past lives? Do you have to believe in past lives in order to for past life regression to be relevant for you? We delve into both history, the hypnosis based how-to and the usage of past life regression, and attempt to answer the mentioned above of whether belief required.
We deal with the question of what is hypnosis. Is it a special state of altered consciousness or is it basically role play or a set of attitudes? Does it matter what it is exactly? We pinpoint that which is for sure important to know, and that is that hypnosis definitely works, that it can achieve profound and life-changing effects. We also define the necessary conditions for this indeed be possible.
Most people who set up goals fail to achieve them, or achieve at best partial success. A typical example for this are fitness, whether it's building muscle or losing weight. There's no shortage of methods out there and people move from one to another, often for years or even decades. Here, we look at the missing ingredient from just about all such programs and methods: how to deal with the critical moments when it's actually challenging and difficult? Again, we turn to the highly personalised NLP approach, and explain why we must look at the specific experience of the specific individual during those challenging moments, and adapt the method accordingly, and provide the mental, emotional and psychological tools that must be there to ensure success.
Here I interview with Phil Gilkes who is a business coach as part of Brian Tracy's Focal Point Coaching. Phil emphasises the concept of "mental muscle" of Shirzad Chamine to execute change within, and we discuss this as well as topics such as the law of attraction, the importance of one's "self talk", using affirmations, finding a purpose in life, and the potential dissonance between striving to achieve goals and yet being happy with what you have. NLP or Neuro-linguistic program is a system for self improvement and coaching developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 70s, while meditation has been around for thousands of years. What is the connection between the two? In this episode we explore how the most fundamental and most important of all NLP techniques, when done right, a deeply meditative technique.
We explore the most basic of NLP concepts, the VAK model, which stipulates that the way we experience the world and the way our internal processing functions is through visual, auditory and kinaesthetic systems, i.e. internal images, sounds and feelings. We stress the importance of simply being aware of and attentive to this, and briefly touch on the potential benefits in learning how to manipulate the components of our experiences.
Everyday chores are among the most common triggers of fights in relationships. Who will do the chores? When should they be done and how should they be performed? Different standards and expectations and lack of understanding of how different one's partner's experience is from one's own can give rise to heated arguments in the long run, can infect the relationship to the core. Here, we explore this topic and how to deal with it.
