  • The Inca Trail Packing List: Top 5 Items
Welcome to the Peru Travel Podcast. You can subscribe to the podcast at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google, TuneIn, or listen in the media player above. Today, we have our gear junkie on and we're talking everything gear that you need for the Inca Trail or any of the other Peru treks.

Kevin discusses the gear that you need to keep you dry depending on the season. This can include anything from boots, shoes, or rain jackets.

The guys then cover the items you are going to need to stay warm. Is a synthetic or down puffy jacket the better option while you are hiking in Peru?

Next, if you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and want to avoid ghosts, they discuss your lighting options.

After this, they discuss how to save your knees while hiking over 26 miles with extensive elevation changes. They once again discuss why you should avoid buying wooden poles in Peru if you want to help save the Peruvian rainforest.

Find out why you need hydration but should avoid a 12-liter Camelbak and just stick to a 3-liter hydration pack.

  • What Does the Inca Trail Cost?

Welcome to the Peru Travel Podcast. You can subscribe to the podcast at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google, TuneIn, or listen in the media player above.

We consistently hear, "Why is Cachi Life so expensive to do the Inca Trail?" So we wanted to break down some numbers on what it actually costs to do the Inca Trail.

Many companies have add-ons including a porter which we can almost guarantee that you are going to pay for by the second day of your Inca Trail hike (as you can hire them along the trail day-by-day). Doing so is going to make your hike price significantly more expensive than doing it through Cachi Life.

Take a listen and check it out as we break down what many different companies REALLY charging to hike the Inca Trail.

Welcome back to the Peru Travel Podcast. You can subscribe to the podcast at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google, TuneIn, or listen in the media player above.

We have our very first guest interview on the podcast today! The first traveler that the guys behind Cachi Life got to meet while they were in Peru, Lindsey Carver.

Quickly after meeting Lindsey, she and her friend Joe, take them on their first Salsa dancing experience.

Lindsey covers her top three experiences in Peru including Machu Picchu, Rayan Community, and sandboarding the dune. She goes into detail about why Rayan was the most culturally rich experience while in Peru.

She talks about trying to tip her tour guide, Gloria, in Peru and why Gloria would not accept the tip.

Finally, Lindsey gives her top three tips from a traveler's standpoint on what people should bring with them when traveling to Peru. Be sure to listen to the end to hear her top three recommendations. There is a possibility that she recommends a niche cleanliness tip we have covered before.

  • Why Cachi Guides Rock
Welcome to back to the Peru Travel Podcast. You can subscribe to the podcast at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google, TuneIn, or listen in the media player above.

The guys continue to reminisce about their recent trip to Peru. The guys test out their newly offered Extreme Inca Tour with one of their guides while in Peru. They go whitewater rafting, hiking, learn about coffee, and go ziplining. After the experience, they contrast and compare to what you may get compared to other tour companies in Peru.

They talk to a few groups who are doing a similar tour with another company. Come to find out the other company uses hotels with cold showers and has no WiFi. In addition, the other company's guide doesn't speak much English, and even when they were supposed to get a guided tour of Machu Picchu…… the tour guide bounced.

The guys talk about how this will not happen with Cachi. You will have warm showers, nice beds, WiFi, English-speaking tour guides, and your guide will be with you every step of the way.

At the end of the day, a trip to Peru is a trip of a lifetime and they want to make sure that you are taken care of when you go.

  • Peru Trip Lessons Learned
Welcome back to the Peru Travel Podcast. You can subscribe to the podcast at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google, TuneIn, or listen in the media player above.

The guys just returned from a trip to Peru and continue to learn new tips and tricks everytime they take a visit.

If you get a little homesick while in Cusco and you just want a little taste of home. Be wary of the pizza in the city square. There is only one spot they have been able to find that uses pizza made with mozzarella cheese.

Acclimating once in Cusco is advised. Especially, when hiking at 16,000 feet. The guys didn't take their own advice and allow two days to acclimate before attempting Rainbow Mountain. Listen to hear how much they struggled.

When using taxis, they found out that Uber is likely the best option to get from place to place whether in Lima or Cusco.

They got to meet some of the travelers that went to Machu Picchu with their company.

And finally, they make a return trip to Central. Be sure to listen to see what they thought of their second trip.
