People love their pets, sometimes more than their own relatives. In fact, it is a $53 billion dollar industry. Pet owners are becoming increasingly demanding consumers who won't put up with substandard products, un-stimulating environments, or shoddy service for their animals. However, most people have no clue what they are feeding their animal companions. That is, they are buying recommended pet food products from vets and whatever seems to keep their furry friend happy. The problem is the labels do not disclose what the food is actually made from. Pet food is the only industry in the United States that is legally allowed to lie to consumers. It is the ONLY food industry in the United States that is allowed to violate federal laws. Susan Thixton is the leading international advocate and expert on pet food.
