Huge news out of Camden Yards, as the Orioles have signed 31 year old first baseman Pete Alonso to a 5 year, $155 million dollar contract! After years of talk from this front office about opening up David Rubenstein's checkbook to spend money on the free agent market (and intervening swings and misses on big targets), the O's have finally landed their white whale (or, polar bear) in the longtime Mets masher. How did all of this finally come together for an organization that had become synonymous with disappointment in free agency? How does Alonso project to fit into this young clubhouse, and their aspirations to return to the top of the AL East?
