October 17, 2018Podomation Update - 22As I move to carrying weights while walking I will have to get a microphone while podcasting. I also discover audacity tricks of a label tracks in the long quest to make a synthetic multiple choice podcast show. This report is really only for those who are following the software development side of things. MP4 recording MP3 recording -- -- Your browser does not support the audio element....more0minPlay
October 17, 2018New Scientist 6 Oct_1I really feel they missed the point about the discrimination in Physics. I just feel that really too few people understand it anyway, and fewer understand the impact of this. The counter arguments raised were such that you couldn't counter counter argument them as low quality too. I am actually quite moved by the CRISPR article and think we should pause to consider what a great epoch of world history is unfolding. That's just me though. October 16, 2018New Scientist 29 Sep _ 5What makes us human or how we should ask that question. There is a interesting review of new London Science museums that seems to avoid the question of enshrining conceptual blunders that plague our Australian ones. There is actually a quite interesting response to questions about boiling potatoes. I like the idea of diluting hunting license lotteries. October 15, 2018New Scientist 29 Sep _ 4I love thinking about Incas. I really do think this civilization could not have flourished if there was as much corruption as we have now. I believe our technology allows us to sustain a corruption load. Then there is an article on doing wildlife science in a war zone and the real cost of neglecting people near a food source. Finally there is a story of property gradients which finishes with a nice observation of how nature replenishes itself so doesn't have to hit the durability reliability limits we have in our technological society. October 15, 2018New Scientist 29 Sep _ 2A range of stories like octopuses on MDMA being a little less unsociable showed flawed thinking about charateristics evolving several times. I am left wondering why your hair knows to grow with artificial sandlewood and not the real thing. The story on the health risk from obesity is actually a bit disturbing. The idea of China funding the Greenland independance movement is delicious. In general articles appear to venture into low logic areas to get the length and story they want. Perhaps I am just not in a very receptive mood today. MP4 recording MP3 recording -- -- Your browser does not support the audio element....more1h 1minPlay

October 15, 2018Parmenides the Greek__3What does this Bard/Philosopher mean if he so massively contradicts himself? Here we get through 3 of the 5 interpretations. My personal opinion is that the journey is more important than the destination, and the classical way to resolve contradictions is to posit multiple authors or writing over time or poor management. The are many modern day ministerial government documents that have bigger contradictions in them. MP4 recording MP3 recording -- -- Your browser does not support the audio element....more50minPlay
