Today I speak with yogini Rachel Scott. Rachel supports yoga teachers and studios in creating transformational educational experiences so that they can thrive in their business, share their passion, and inspire more people to practice yoga. Her knowledge and experience are extensive. She’s earned two master’s degrees, led over twenty teacher trainings, spent fifteen years in yoga studio management and created thousands of hours of curriculum. Author of Wit and Wisdom from the Yoga Mat and Head Over Heels: A Yogi’s Guide To Dating, she’s also raw, real, generous, and has a devilish sense of humour. You can find out more about Rachel at rachelyoga.com, on YouTube, or follow her on Facebook and Instagram

In this episode, I talk with yogi and artist Kate MacDonnell. Kate lives, teaches, and creates in Washington D.C. Kate has had solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums nationally and internationally including a two-person show in Tokyo this past summer. She was interviewed on NPR’s Morning Edition for her work in the collaborative project www.sametime715.com, she has received numerous grants, and has been a visiting artist and guest lecturer at George Washington University, Virginia Commonwealth University, St. Mary's College of Maryland, and the Corcoran College of Art and Design. I got to talk to Kate about her yoga, her art, and the place they come together. The conversation touched on lots of topics close to my heart. I hope you enjoy it too!
Kate's work is at katemacdonnell.com and on Instagram @kate_macdonnell
I mention 5 Things but on air, I only mention 3 of the people who participated. It was a much bigger group of artists, curated by James Huckenpahler, and the archive lives here. I did find an archive of Now:Here:This, curated by me, but it only exists, readily, in index form. Clicking on dates under any artist's name will bring up an instance of the project.

In today's episode I provide some advice on the first part of yoga practice: tapas, the purification of our mental patterns. I also use AOC as a metaphor for Shiva Shakti. Enjoy!
