The Bucs season ended in a way that highlighted one of the biggest topics for the team this season, a Jameis Winston interception thrown on the first pass. This time, it didn't happen in regulation, but in overtime, Winston's first pass was intercepted and taken back to the house as the Bucs lost 28-22. Now that the Bucs have finished the season at 7-9, the number one question is can this team win with Winston?
Decision day is coming for the Bucs as they decide what they want to do with Winston. The general consensus is from the PR staff is that Winston will be back next season, but in what capacity? The Bucs have only used the franchise tag four teams in their team history since the tag was created. Will they use it again, or can they convince Winston to sign a two to three year shorter deal? In this same game, Winston became the eighth quarterback to throw for 5,000 yards and also became the first to join the 30-30 club of 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. There's no easy answer to this.
Outside of all the questions around Winston, we also break down the rough game Matt Gay had, where he missed three kicks. If Gay makes one of them, the Bucs win this game and we're not talking about Winston's turnovers issues.
Shaq Barrett also broke a franchise record and Jason Pierre-Paul had another big game. The PR staff stresses how important it is that they both return next season as this defense grows together and improves on how well they've played in the second half of the season.
