*More About This Episode* Active Listening Skills: How to Become the Most Fascinating Person in the Room
Leadership is about communicating your ideas well. Incorporating these active listening skills into your communication strategy can help you become the kind of person people are drawn to. It's the best way to get your ideas heard.
1. Learn to speak in shorter chunks. Then stop and let the other person respond! Don't dominate the conversation. Stick to the topic. Keep it short, keep it relevant. Almost always, less is more.
2. Don't dominate the conversation. Conversation is a two-way street.
3. Don't lecture. Nobody wants to be lectured to!
4. Ask about them. People want to share about themselves! Use people's names and take opportunities to express interest in their lives when it's appropriate to establish a rapport.
5. Learn to read other people. Be aware of the response or reaction of the others in the room and change your strategy if the moment calls for it.
Active listening and good people skills are just as important—if not more—than the skills it takes to do your job. For more, read my blog here: How to Instantly Gain Respect and Become the Most Fascinating Person in the Room

The Perfect Video Recipe for YouTubeThe perfect video recipe to grow your YouTube channel begins with understanding what your audience is interested in. What's on people's minds? It's about being current, relevant, and understanding the zeitgeist. Whoever understand the viewer best wins!
Here's Sean's Perfect Video Recipe:
· The Big Idea: The topic, title, thumbnail
Topic: Choose the right topic at the right time. What's on people's minds? What are they searching for?
Title: What is your video actually about? For example, what is your sermon series on Elijah about? Courage? God's provision? Title your video to answer the questions people are asking on YouTube.
· The Hook
The opening few seconds (or first few minutes) of your video should hook the viewer. Create curiosity or tension, tease what's coming up, build credibility and get the audience bought in to watch more.
· The Content
Be brief. Be bright. Be fun. Be done.
· The Transition
Rather than letting the viewer know the video is ending, transition to another video. Agitate the next problem, provoke interest in the next thing, point them to more content on your channel.
"If we commit to continuous learning, we'll definitely be able to create an edge in publishing video and media." —Sean Cannell

*More About This Episode* My Top 5 Pet Peeves about Social Media Content Creators
1. Obsessing with analytics
Analytics can be important, but it's also important to consider content quality. What's the story you're trying to tell? What's your message and the audience you're trying to reach?
2. Using social media as a megaphone
Are you having a one-way conversation? Social media is social! It's a two-way conversation.
3. Not knowing how to tell a story
Do you know how to tell an engaging story? As a social media creator, take the time to learn how to tell effective stories to better engage your audience.
4. Playing it too safe
There is such a thing as confrontational creativity! We need to be more provocative about what we're posting. Ask tough questions that force people to think differently. Learn how to push the envelope just a little bit!
5. Not having a real, genuine, authentic, and unique voice
Cut through the "noise" by having a unique and authentic voice. The more you narrow your niche down, the bigger the audience you have a potential of reaching.
What you post on social media matters. Your voice can impact today's culture in positive ways.

**More About this Episode**Indie Film Distribution: Interview with Trey Reynolds, VP Development, Provident Films
It's one thing to make a movie, it's another to get it distributed.
"If you're a person of faith, spend a lot of time with the Lord and follow God's direction. Put some people around you that can give you some nice wisdom... Become skilled at your craft, screenwriting, cinematography, whatever. What I see too often is passion for ministry or passion to tell a story trumps the time it takes to really make it ready for production and compete in the marketplace." -Trey Reynolds
