In Acts 15:1-35, we can learn from how the early church dealt with the issue of circumcision being forced upon the gentiles. We can see that even from the beginning, it was always God’s plan that we would be saved not by works and tradition but by only by faith.

As a lifelong church-goer, follower of Jesus, and former CCM recording artist with the Dove award-winning group ZOEgirl, Alisa Childers experienced a period of profound doubt about her faith in her mid-thirties. She felt as though she had been tossed into a stormy ocean of uncertainty with no life jacket or lifeboat in sight. She didn’t know where to find answers to her questions, or if answers existed at all. Did she have to accept it all on some kind of blind faith? Alisa began to investigate her faith intellectually—she took seminary classes and read everything she could get her hands on. This began her journey from unreasoned doubt into a vibrant, rational, and informed faith. Visit Alisachilders.com for more information about her ministry and her podcast!

Despite preaching God's word, proclaiming the gospel, and performing a miracle, people do not believe in the true and living God and they persecuted Paul and Barnabas.

In the letter penned to the Laodiceans, as found in Revelation 3:14-22, Jesus urges the church in Laodicea to repent of their complacency. Despite their riches and wealth, they lacked true spiritual wealth. The Lord warns them of their spiritual temperature and warns them that if they do not repent, He will expel them from His mouth! The letter concludes with an encouraging invitation to turn and seek the Lord. The Lord promises that whoever looks will find Him knocking at the door, waiting to enter.

The church in Philadelphia was found to be faithful. The Lord Jesus commends them for their endurance and because of this, they have so many promises to hold on to. As we look at this letter, we'll look at what this church did right and what promises we also can cling to if we keep our faith in Jesus.
