For this week, we're talking about the letter written to the church in Sardis found in Revelation 3:1-6. The church in Sardis had a reputation that appeared to be good, but beneath the surface, Jesus reveals that many of them are spiritually dead and that their works lack faith. As we read this letter together, we’ve been able to draw some helpful applications to our own lives. We hope it blesses you!

For this week’s podcast, we’ll discuss through the letter addressed to the church of Thyatira found in Revelation 2:18-29. Jesus starts the letter by praising them for certain qualities, but as we delve deeper into the text, we’ll notice that Jesus rather quickly shifts the tone to warn them about the gravity of the sin that many of them have committed and warn them about the woman, Jezebel.

We’re continuing our study of the book of Acts at our Monday night large group meetings. This week, Jim delved into Acts 12, where we witness Peter’s imprisonment and miraculous rescue. Jim guided us through the profound implications of this event, offering valuable insights into trust, prayer, and endurance. Additionally, Jim provided talked about the death of King Agrippa at the end of the chapter. This revelation sheds light on the consequences faced by those who oppose and obstruct the Lord’s work.

For this week's podcast episode, we're continuing our series through the letters written to the seven churches at the beginning of the book of Revelation. The letter to the third church was located in an Ancient Greek city called Pergamos (Revelation 2:12-17). The New King James translation refers to this church as "The Compromising Church" and you'll see as we discuss through the text that there were valid reasons for this title. Jesus warns the church as some members were adhering to the teachings of Balaam and the Nicolaitans, which involve idolatry and immorality. The letter urges them to repent and promises rewards to those who overcome these issues, including the gift of hidden manna and a white stone with a new name!

For this week’s Young Adults meeting, we were glad to invite Pastor Chris Clark from CCPhilly to bring us something from God's word. He delved into the story of David and Mephibosheth from 2 Samuel 9, highlighting David’s unwavering commitment to his covenant with Jonathan and his remarkable kindness towards his grandson, Mephibosheth. This narrative beautifully illustrates the profound kindness that Jesus demonstrates towards us.

Revelation 1:9-20
This week, we’re embarking on a brief series of episodes where we’ll explore each letter at the beginning of the book of Revelation. Since these letters were addressed to specific churches and contain the words of Jesus, we believe that we can glean from these words and how Jesus was addressing these churches.

Acts 11
Last Monday night, we continued our series through the Book of Acts. In Acts 11, we see Peter make a defense of his actions by explaining his vision from God, which indicated that nothing God has made should be considered unclean. He describes how the Holy Spirit came upon the Gentiles just as it did on the Jews, leading the apostles and believers in Jerusalem to praise God, acknowledging that He has granted Gentiles repentance to life. The chapter concludes with the church in Antioch growing as Barnabas and Saul teach a great number of people, and the disciples are first called Christians in Antioch. One of the main points that Josh focused on was how we, like Peter, can discern what is a true work of God.
