Oh boy, what a game!

Despite putting only 15 shots on net against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Philadelphia Flyers spanked their division rivals on Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center, propelling themselves ahead of CBJ in the standings, and ahead of the New York Islanders into third in the Metropolitan.

Philly has to get right back at it on Thursday night against the same opponent, this time away from their home ice where they've had so much success, but this one felt damn good.

Touted as the most important stretch of the season, the Flyers got the first two of four crucial points with the trade deadline looming and the playoff race tightening.

Goaltending! Depth! Defense! Clutch scoring!

The Philadelphia Flyers got it all on Thursday night at the BB&T Center, dropping the Florida Panthers 6-2, responding well after their crushing defeat to the New York Islanders on Tuesday.

Philly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, on goals by James van Riemsdyk, Tyler Pitlick and Nicolas Aube-Kubel. Scott Laughton added to the lead in the middle frame before a couple of quick Panthers goals to open the third made things a little more uncomfortable than they needed to be.

But Sean Couturier and Robert Hagg put the game out of reach with goals in the final five minutes to ice the game.

It was good to see the orange and black bounce back from Tuesday's multi-layered disaster, and now they'll look to build momentum heading into the trade deadline with four games, including a home-and-home with the Columbus Blue Jackets, before the Monday February 24th cutoff.
