    We are excited to present our podcast interview with New England Light Painters fine-art photography group founder, David Kahn from Natick, MA. This is Photography and Business Insight- What it Takes to be Successful’s sixth podcast in our interview series.
    David Kahn founded New England Light Painters, a photographic artists peer review group in 2006. The group’s mission is to support photographers with an interest in fine-art. Feedback is given through monthly peer image critique. The group also has a monthly education night. All members are encouraged to share their opinion of work in review.

    How is this group is different from a traditional camera club? Listen in to learn what inspired David to create the New England Light Painters group. Discover how the group defines fine-art photography and learn about the artistic process of some of the group’s members.
    Many people believe that it is important to make time to create images that feed your soul. David Kahn has created a wonderful place a for photographic artists to share their creative vision with like minded people.

    We are happy to bring this podcast interview with David Kahn, a fine-art photographer from Natick, MA. Welcome back to our latest podcast episode of Photography and Business Insight- What it takes to be Successful.  This is another edition of our interview series. This podcast interview with David offers a rare look inside the thought process of an artistic, montage photographer. He brings a whole new perspective to photography though his very unique style and procedure from capture to vision to end resulting image.
     
    David Kahn’s mother was an artist, so grew up in an art-filled environment. He was exposed to many forms of art, but was drawn to photography. He started out with film and jumped into digital photography very early-back when digital images were captured on a floppy disc!
    Listen in to learn about his unique vision and process as well as the obstacles he had to overcome. David also talks about his involvement in the local arts in his home town of Natick, MA where the downtown area was recently designated as a cultural district.
    David Kahn is also the founder of the New England Light Painters (NELP), a group of art-focused photographers who meet twice a month to review each other’s work, exchange ideas and participate in group shows.

    We are very excited to bring you this podcast interview with Mike Ritter, president of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) New England Chapter.
    If you are studying photography in school, are just starting out as a photographer or even if you are a seasoned pro, you need to listen to this podcast.
    Mike gives his insight on a number of different topics related to the business of photography: He talks about his personal project and why it’s important to have one. What he learned from ASMP when he was just starting out about 12 years ago and how that helped his career and even where he sees the future of photography going.

    Mike Ritter is a very enthusiastic leader and fantastic problem solver, who looks for win-win scenarios. Through ASMP New England, he fosters relationships between seasoned pros and photographers just starting out so that they can gain insight from each other. He strongly believes in their motto: Photographer helping photographers. He has applied this strategy to bring various photography affiliation groups together for the benefit of all members. He is also very involved in photographer advocacy and talks about his involvement in bringing photographers together to protect their rights – and believes that there is strength in numbers.

    This is the first episode in our new interview series.  Alan Kidawski is a native Bostonian and photographer with many years of experience in various genres.  He got his start in the 1960’s as a photojournalist working for his town and school newspapers.  He is experienced in wedding, commercial advertising, industrial and architectural photography, and has been involved in some very unique projects.

    With this diverse background, Alan has some great photographic insights and tips. He brings a wealth of knowledge and his great sense of humor to the table.
    Early in his career, Alan made 3 life goals:

    * Photograph everything in the world-in progress
    * Have an all-expenses-paid trip to Europe to photograph-achieved!
    * Never stop the passion-daily

    Retired now, Alan Kidawski photographs more than ever to keep up with goal one! His mission is to continue doing gallery exhibits.  He also stays busy as an active member of several professional and community photographic groups, teaching and mentoring aspiring photographers.
