From playing guitar as a hobby to making it his career, this episode will surely give you a taste of what the world can provide for you if you're able to seize these opportunities!Originally from Colombia, classical guitarist Carlos Bedoya obtained B.M. degrees in Music Education and Classical Guitar Performance from Rowan University, and a M.M. degree in Classical Guitar performance from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University where he is currently pursuing his Artist Diploma as a graduate assistant in the prestigious studio of Dr. Andrew Zohn. In the coming fall, Bedoya will pursue a D.M degree in Guitar at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music as an Associate Instructor under the tutelage of pedagogue Petar Jankovic. His previous teachers include Joseph and Kathleen Mayes, Edward R. Nelson and Grammy award winner Jason Vieaux. Some of his career highlights include being finalist in the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey concerto competition, and obtaining top prizes at the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society international competition (2015, 17, 18), the Troy University Guitar Competition (4 th 2020), the Hong Kong IFA online competition (3 rd 2020), and the Sinaloa International Guitar Competition (3 rd 2021). Bedoya was also a semifinalist in several international competitions including the Tampere Guitar Festival in Finland (2020), the Jose Tomas Villa de Petrer Guitar Festival in Spain (2020), the first Ex-Aequo online guitar competition (2020), the Florida Guitar Foundation Competition (2018), and the Florida Guitar Festival (2019). In addition, Carlos has appeared as soloist with the Ocean City Orchestra and the Rowan University Orchestra as a winner of their concerto competition and was selected as a grand winner of the 2014 NLPA music competition which prize allowed him to perform in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Recently, Bedoya was chosen as the national winner of the National Federation of Music Clubs classical guitar award.
